Only 42 days until the DU Pioneers hit the ice in Burlington.

Last year, there were 2 great games at Magness. Certainly anticipate the same this year at the Fieldhouse. And we got to see stars from 2007-08, Stahlberg, the elder, and Bozak, skate together with the Marlies and the Leafs. It's a Small World.

Yeah, we're all looking forward to it. They should be good games.
As I recall from last year, you guys have good fans--very respectful and complimentary toward UVM. We appreciate it.

Exhibition game is 5 weeks from right now, hard to beleive with a week of 90F ahead, but we'll take it

Would be hot living in the dorms this week though. Need lots of beer to stay cool

The UVM website still lists Burrows as a Defenseman, has Sneddon been quoted this off-season saying if he is going to play forward or not? Or are we assuming this?

I haven't seen anything from Sneddon specifically saying it. But I think with his play at forward last year and the additional defenseman coming in it's a pretty safe bet.

The cats lose Cullity but are bringing in two defensmen. Presumably one would be to replace Burrows.

Re: UVM Offseason Thread - building for a 3rd Straight Bid

They have a tendency not to update the roster when players move up or back so I don't think this has any bearing on where Burrows is going to skate.

Glad to see everyone back and a nice incoming class. This class should be one of the best ever, and the next two seasons look as strong or stronger also. The future is bright

Re: UVM Offseason Thread - building for a 3rd Straight Bid

Here's a nice article about Mike Montagna (2011 recruit), talking about the upcoming season playing for Waterloo in the USHL:

Nice article. Kid sure can put up points and it looks as if he continued after recovery from surgery. I think it's smart to give him a year at a bit higher level of play.

This should be a good year, Cats need to make the NCAA's for a third year in a row and the following year bring one home. The cats are getting better and better recruits and the exposure from playing in the NCAA's is paying off.

Montagna coupled with Anthoine and Girgenson are going to be a heck of a trio of forwards to go along with Brickley, Lenz, White, Stalberg, McCarthy, etc.

Can't wait to see the Frosh on the ice in a little over a month !!

Re: UVM Offseason Thread - building for a 3rd Straight Bid

I agree that Anthione with Girgensons and Montagna is going to be a formidable group. There is another strong kid in that group also but his name slips my aging mind at the moment.

I think UVM is looking pretty strong the next four years, as long as they don't go the way of RPI right away and lose all the top guys after one year.

That is a better problem to have than not having the talent to begin with, but I hope we get lucky with some Nyquist/Wilson/Gilroy type guys who decide to stay in school out for a few years and enjoy the experience rather than rush into the NHL.

Having said that, I think we HAVE been lucky that Medvec did not leave early, he is going to be a monster this year. As Lawson should also be.

There is never any guarantee's with this sort of thing, but I get the feeling Sneddon is very much a coach that expects the kids he recruits to stay for 4 years. It happens that kids leave and I have a suspicion that UVM is going to see it's fair share bolt early in the future but I think by and large most of
