First and foremost, I want to see the facts. If Woodcroft did something wrong, and the initial data we've seen so far certainly leans heavily in that direction, then he got what is coming to him. As was previously stated, in this instance, if he was texting with a student in an inappropriate way and that student complains....it is game over. And rightfully so, that student deserves action from the school.
If the facts are less damning when they come out, then that would open up an entire other set of conversations around college wokeness gone wild, poor management of the athletic program (with a few supporting incidents we are all aware of), etc. I personally believe this is the less likely outcome, but unfortunately given UVMs longstanding track record of catering to fringe liberal agendas, and mediocre at best athletic department management, I can't completely rule this out. But again, this angle of "the administration made a mistake here" seems like a long shot to me at this point.
Regarding the hockey program......I'm at a loss. We are almost back, IMO. I personally think we are on the cusp of making some huge steps forward this year. The talent level coming is is simply better than it has been, and we already have some really solid players on the roster. If we avoid this turning into an exodus, I still think we are on the right track. I think it depends on the relationship the recruits have with Wielder...if he can hold this together he's in a great spot and I think success is on the way. If he can't, then the program is headed for dark days again.
