UVM Offseason 2023

-1. Maybe, jut maybe, try and keep it to hockey?

There's absolutely zero indication or evidence to date that Coach was let go for hockey-related issues, is there?

Too bad your advice was not taken by the powers-that-be at UVM, we could've avoided this whole discussion.

Altho upon closer inspection WMU had a very good year in 2022-2023 and grabbed some fantastic transfers off the portal. Someone is doing right there, notably another location that doesnt make recruiting easy

Understandably there is a lot of doom and gloom on here. However, I will be in Burlington in early November for the first time in a long while, so does anyone know when the schedule will be released?

Steve W. press conference earlier this month. Good listen, positive and focused. Sounds like 2 assistants are going to be hired. I'm more encouraged, hoping team bonds together and uses this as motivation to keep momentum going in right direction. Other than Alex Bump departure we haven't heard anything else in terms of departures. Holding future recruiting classes together would be biggest worry. But I'm of the opinion is if the team keeps moving in right direction and as Steve talks about the culture then players will want to join.

Does anyone know if the details of the Woodcroft situation have spread around campus, or if it truly is a total unknown other than "inappropriate texts and lack of professional boundaries"?

The assistants are already on the staff page, but haven't been announced. Bradley elevated to paid assistant, also hired away Shane Madolora from RIT. Viktor Stalberg has also taken Sharp's spot as "advisor to the coaching staff."

Excellent was watching other teams hire their final pieces and I knew we needed a few. Important to have full allocation of coaches to help recruit/run practice/scout - etc. Shane Madolora is ex goalie from college/lower minors/Europe and has spent alot of time in Rochester area. Would assume he's focused on goalies with his experience. Nice to see Viktor back helping he can flash that ring on his finger. Except Sharpie had 3 rings.

Soccer team played Western Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Basketball team will be playing Miami Ohio this year. Could that mean some NCHC games for us next year?

I’m interested also. Woodcroft certainly seemed ready to sue in the early days, and maybe that filing will leak . However, I’d expect both sides have reason to settle in the six figures. Uvm because it appears to have made a hash of the anthony lamb mess and wants any other inappropriate weirdness to go away. Woodcroft may be content to collect a few years salary if he did something weird. However, if UVM has overreacted in the current environment maybe Woodcroft is pissed, is unlikely to settle and wants details out there. Those seem to me like the paths ahead.

To be clear, I think we can get to a reasonable level of transparency here without naming or outing any student. We know it is a student, no more information is needed or warranted there. What is warranted is, what was shared? To me, a crude joke is not grounds for firing, but we can all imagine things that would be. I think important to hold all (Woodcroft and administration) accountable on where the line is and whether it was crossed.
