UVM Catamounts, 2024-25 Season, Does Anyone Care Anymore?

UVM is currently 6th in points percentage in conference play, 29th in the pairwise. That's a great start to the season!

Puck Preps has Guindon a 4.5 star recruit who is a center and was a 4th round pick of the Habs. It described the signing as a massive get. This was shortly after we just signed 3 star D-man Jonathan Kapageridis. In all fairness, I have no idea if this site is actually good, or if their star system is accurate, but if I saw it on twitter it must be true right?
 
That is a great get for us in recruiting. Very happy.

This kid is a 4th round NHL draft pick, top 10 on OHL scoring list. Excactly the profile of what our team needs.

And I also love the fact that we are jumping on the major junior recruiting successfully right out of the gate, that bodes well for us in the new recruiting world we are now in.

Nice show of offense last night. Almost forgot they were playing with the Soccer team going where no VT team has gone before.
 
Let's give this thread a bump to the top. More people need to know about Vermont soccer playing for the National Championship Monday night at 8PM on ESPN2. What a Cinderella story! They have beaten the 2,3 and 7 seeds after being placed essentially 26th in the 48 team field. They have had 3 shutouts and only 2 goals scored against them. They beat Denver the 3 seed with just 1 shot on goal to tie it late and to win it in the PK OT. Their opponent is 13 seed Marshall who topped the 1 seed Ohio State in the semifinals. Go UVM!!
 
UVM hockey has been much more fun to watch this season. I love that they are playing a faster, more possesion oriented game. It's nice to see the progression of last year's freshman. I tend to focus on the defensemen when I'm watching. Both Ramsey and Barnett have made huge improvements from last year. Better team depth means nobody's name is inked into the gameday lineup. Mangbo should finish out the season. He is much better at rebound control than Rancier. Can't wait for the renovations to get finished to get rid of the rinkside walkway. Digital prgrams suck. UVM should hand out the game day lineups to the fans instead of charging $1500 (Victory Club membership) for them
 
Pretty cool, never would think a northern school would be a soccer powerhouse but apparently they are. Congrats on the Championship.
 
Congrats on the 'Ship! It wasn't easy rooting for a Hockey East and America East competitor, but I'm glad your boys won. Entertaining games, and love their never-die attitude.
 
I don't know a lot about soccer rules but relating it to hockey I thought UVM had a very strong forecheck throughout the game. That method seems to work well in hockey too. The Vermont goalie dove to break up a pass that appeared to be going nowhere. Instead of allowing it to go by harmlessly he tapped it straight to the Marshall player who scored. Similar to hockey if you don't have a real good shot at controlling it, it is sometimes better to let it go. The goalie however deserves MVP of the tournament. Not sure who got it.
