UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

I agree 100%. He may even be in the top pair. He is slow, undersized (not a good combo), and as an offensive force had 3 points last year while playing on every power play and taking a regular shift on the pp and pk.
I think it is a case of showcasing your favorite, whether he is the best or not. I don't think he would play over Phillips, Hamilton, Abramson, Ferguson or even Muscoby if it was on merit alone.

Better said +1

Former UMass recruit heading to UVM.

97 D Jake Massie (USHL Omaha) commits to Vermont. Cats get an athletic, tough-to-play against LD, 6th rd NHL pick in '15. Was UMass recruit.

Wow,that could be good news. Is he coming this year? If he is tough to play against as a LD he would be a good shutdown match with Abramson.
Only question is with him coming it makes 11 D. Lot of unhappy players.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Hopefully he turns out to be a good pick up. Sounds like he has good potential but needs some coaching and while we can all agree our offense doesn't seem to progress much, I do think Sneddon does a good job on the defensive side of things. Ryan Gunderson comes to mind who scared me a lot as a F/S but as a junior and senior was as solid of defensive guy as I can think of.

Just passing this along ...

Hope it's nothing serious for the young man.

Breaking per @UVMmhockey Goalie
Packy Munson will be leaving the men’s hockey program due to family/personal reasons.

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Interesting comment at the end of the article. Granted it's the comment section, but still.
Well, look who the poster of that comment is -- Michael Milo, Justin Milo's dad. As you might recall, he used to regularly post on this board (under another name) when Justin was a member of the team (and then afterward), and would rip Sneddon at every opportunity. So, I don't know how much of that to believe, but I agree, it is interesting.

Overall, I'd have to look at this as really bad news. Another good player, in a long list of good players, has left the team under Sneddon's tenure. And again, one is left to wonder W*T*F* is going on with the program.

Weather it is Milo or not, fact of the matter is that Sneddon leads all NCAA coaches in player personnel turnover. Its really sad and needs to be addressed by the school. There are more coming this year too..stay tuned.

What do you know that hasn't been announced?

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

I wouldn't read too much into Dad Milo's comments. His kid had a bad attitude, was warned and eventually dismissed, apple didn't fall far from the tree. End of that story.

As for Munson, he is leaving for family / personal reasons, that doesn't sound like a Sneddon issue, but rather he wants to be closer to his family. He has a bright career and I wish him the best.

We will still have solid goaltending next year, let's hope the D improves back to normal and offense... well... lets just hope for the offense.

I'd like to believe that, but my gut is telling me otherwise. It's a bummer because I was really looking forward to him being THE MAN in net this season. Oh well, like you, I wish him the best.

Don't know if I'd agree with that. I didn't have a lot of confidence in Santa going into last season, and I won't have any more going into this season. Maybe the new kid can contribute....

Re: UVM 2016 Off-Season Thread

Home and home with Clarkson has been announced, I've been hearing it's October 7th and 8th but nothing is confirmed on the dates.

From what I hear the good news is that Munson has no family problems that he must attend to. Nobody is ill or anything like that. He wanted more money and was turned down. Probably because they opened the vault for the Massie kid and already had the not such a great prospect Lee on a full ride.
I still would like to hear what Catmandoo has to say about further cuts or deletions. There are still 11 D that think they are playing for UVM next year! The only two guys who were regulars last year and are coming back are Lee and Abramson. Assuming that they are regulars again, and that Massie is handed the keys to the city, deserving or not, that leaves 3 spots for Muscoby, Phillips and Hamilton from last year, who did play some, Kearley who did not, and 4 new guys.
As far as goaltending goes, Santa is a decent goalie but not an upper echelon goalie. Munson had upper echelon games and I fear that Santa will not. Lekkas is another small goalie and who knows about him.

Sorry, I forgot Ferguson who goes in with Phillips, Hamilton and Muscoby as players who did not regularly play throughout the entire season and there are 3 new guys, not including Massie.

How many new players have actually signed LOI's for the upcoming season and who are they?

How many new players have actually signed LOI's for the upcoming season and who are they?

Massie, Jake LD 1997 Daigle, Maximilien RD 1995
Moriarty, Corey LD 1995
O'Donnell, Matthew RD 1995

These are the D who are apparently coming to add to the 7 returnees.

Lodermeier, Klein, Alvaro and Colton were coming as forwards although as referred to above, Colton is trying to back out and will not be there this fall.
There are 5 more forwards that could come this fall but probably won't.

Huge logjam unless he cleans house and that is why what Catmandoo said made sense.....just don't know who.
