UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

I was planning on attending the Maine/UVM game on Saturday. Didn't realize that UVM typically sells out. Is there anywhere other than the UVM website that I could grab tickets?

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

just look at the save % and tell me it makes sense to play him versus Hoffman.....

On the current season:

Hoffman : .927 sv%, 1.47 GAA
Santaguida: .941 sv%, 1.51 GAA

Santaguida has a higher save percentage so by your logic he should be the starter...

I don't believe that for a minute... the fact is having two goalies with tremendously different physiques, styles, strengths and weaknesses is a boon for this team and rotating these goalies is what makes sense. Possibly throw in a weekend here and there where one goalie gets both games simply to throw off the opposing team a bit and keep it as random as possible. That's what makes sense to me. You haven't ever liked Santaguida, declaring him too small from day 1. That's fine, your opinion is that goalies need to be big.

And yes, Hoff had a better sv% last season although only marginally, however without taking into consideration WHO they each played against it's irrelevant.

Santa played both games against BC, both games against UND, both games against UNH, both games against ND... these are high powered offenses.
Hoffman played both games against MC, and 5 games against UML. MC wasn't very good and UML is a much more defense minded team then the likes of UNH, BC, UND and ND. So I don't agree at all that the 0.013 difference in sv% somehow makes it logical to start Hoffman over Santaguida. Sorry, but again, I guess we just agree to disagree.

Same. Oh well.

UCONN just beat BC. I didn't see the game, but thought that 2-1 might have been an ugly win against UCONN but that is starting to look pretty good right now

Uvm dominated that game. Just could not finish. That continues to be a recurring theme. Same with notre dame last weekend.

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

UConn has a really strong goaltender, he is going to steal some games for sure. Same with Notre Dame... that said UVM does need to pick it up some and I'm hopeful that J. Priviterra and Shaw getting on the board will get the monkey off their back and get them going. Shaw needs to be one of our top forwards.

for future reference--every away team(this case being maine)has been alotted a certain amount of tickets--contact the school tix office at the beginning of the season or the beginning of the week before the game

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Lets go Cats, lets outplay the Bears AND win.

Nice. That's what I'm talking about. Outplayed maine by a wide margin except the breakaways they gave up. Horribly reffing. First call on uvm was terrible. Maine player fell down untouched. Pathetic. Refs missed obvious calls on maine and it was 4 to 1 calls against cats. Markison was unreal

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Not sure if it was Vermont turning it up as much as Maine slowing down. Maine was playing its #1 line alot while Vermont was using 4 lines more and it really showed in the 3rd. Maine pretty much dumped the puck in all period. Agree the reffing was very poor and to be honest Low was lost all night, more than once he made errors in calls on faceoffs/changes and had to be corrected by linesmen.

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Will be interesting to see who starts in goal tonight with Sneddon implying Hoffman might be The Man depending on how he played Friday. At this point in the season, I don't think I'm ready to hand the job to him full-time, and I don't think we've seen enough of Santa to say he's been given a fair shot. Thus, at the risk of giving Snowboarder an aneurysm, I'd start Santa tonight.

Hope we can shake the 2-goal deficit trend that we've been on and make it a 4 point sweep. Go Cats.

As much as I love the team trying to entertain us with thrilling, come from behind, wins, can someone please tell them that the fan base is perfectly happy with a blowout victory as well?

Blowouts are boring... A game like last nights is way more entertaining, right to the last second!

Ok Cats, how about come out skating early and keep it going for 60 minutes. What an effort in the 3rd last night, awesome, keep it going!

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Solid game.. Priveterra and Paliotta stong as ever. I have to say (knock on wood) Hamilton has stepped up his game. Good positioning, good breakout passes. He is playing well.

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

This was a great game. They played as hard as I've seen them play for all 60 minutes in a while. I was cautiously optimistic, but now I'm thoroughly convinced this is a championship team. I give Kevin and staff huge kudos and the team leaders for one of the best starts in a while. Every player has been playing tough and with conviction. So impressed with the way the PK has been. These guys are simply awesome. I continue to be so impressed with the vision, puck handling of Jake Fallon. Though not perfect all the time the way he finds open players and threads the needle is impressive. I also like how he holds players off as he maneuvers. Hoffman is looking so confident; the one that got by him tonight was a great shot from a tough angle. What can you say about Paliotta; he exudes control. I could go on and on about most every player. And conditioning cans win games as this team is proving. 110% all the time. Keep up the good work team, you are a joy to watch - thanks.

I'd also like to give the students a BIG thanks tonight for (the most part) cheering FOR their team and keeping it mostly clean. After tossing a couple students last night it seems to have maybe gotten through to them. Good job students.

Re: UVM 2014-2015: Let's Play 10 Games in Massachusetts this Season

Wow. Nice game cats. They skated circles around maine. Pretty dominant 5 periods of hockey this weekend once they got going. The d is moving the puck as well as I have ever seen. And the d us very activated. Palliotta and privitera are impressive. Adding a privitera and keeping Paliotta was huge. Paliotta leadership is clearly part of the success. He exudes confidence. Bradley is dominant on the boards. Relentless effort and speed across all 4 lines. Blocking shots. Physical also. Can't wait to see Phillips if he can add some more offensive pressure. The one weakness is finish. This is the deepest and fastest team they have had in many years. They need to score more though. But they are fun to watch. These assistant coaches and Paliotta should be thanked for turning this program around. I thought they were ranked too low in coaches poll and they are earning respect now.

Way to go Cats! Impressive weekend. How bout the play of Mike Stenerson?!? 5 point weekend!!! Where the hell did he come from??? I hardly remember him from last year and don't recall him even playing much. Anyway, good for him and hopefully he can keep it up.
