Utica's Attendance

Re: Utica's Attendance

Well then it's not really a school team. It's a town team, so you might as well be playing Canadian Jr. A. It's the students that make college hockey what it is. Most kids want to play so they can be the BMOC. What kind of girls will they meet after a Platty game Cougars? :p

Cougars are Washington State - Isn't Platty the Cardinals?

Or it goes back to the average age of Cardinal fans being in their 40's...and some females being included in such a demographic...

It is a little discouraging when the majority of Cardinal fans that show up at the CC are very quiet - I would tend to say that comes with the average age being so high. The Geneseo and Morrisville bunches that show up are a hoot to start shouting matches with though. They're pretty young and full of beans.

Re: Utica's Attendance

Which they would not be able to do during a frozen four or any NCAA playoff game.

Back when UC hosted the ECAC-W tournament in 2005 there was no beer served. The Elmira double OT game was the loudest I have ever heard that place (throughout the entire game - not just for goals and big hits as can happen at many Utica home games) and the final against Manhattanville was pretty intense as well.

I don't think it would be a problem.

That atmosphere was incredible. One of the best I've ever been a part of

Re: Utica's Attendance

That's odd; I recall the atmosphere being lousy. (I suppose that may have been due to RIT capping off a lousy second half of their last D-III season with a lackluster loss to the Valiants.)

I was at that game. I seem to remember it being played in the afternoon a few hours before the faceoff of the Utica-Elmira game. I'll agree... there were not many people in attendance for that one. The place was rocking a few hours later.

Re: Utica's Attendance

I was at both games, There were suprisingly a lot of RIT fans at their game; they were waving their big tigers flag when they scored etc... but yess, that game was played around 4:00pm that day and it was very low in attendence, as i could see because i was sitting in my usual spot behind the goalie.RIT played well, but that year the Valiants were just too hot to stop, atleast league play wise. The place did go nuts with bell ringing though when RIT played, that was sorta annoying too(which is why i remember that game.

As well as that game, i was at the Utica/Elmira game that night too, and it was hands down the loudest its ever gotten in the Aud for a UC hockey game.just as PioneerFan11 said, not only were the goals that were scored by Utica, make the Aud loud, but the OT goal scored by Ron Mexico made the place so loud it probably could only be made in comparison to when the US mens olympic ice hockey team beat the soviets in 1980.
