Utica University 2025-26 - The Road (back) To Utica

This from a college hockey reporter who would know: “It does not appear that many tickets remain for the Albany Regional's first day.”
That looks to be true when you go look at tickets available for sale. But they are only offering tickets for the lower bowl, and probably closing off the upper sections. Lower bowl probably holdings 5,000-6,000 which would be a good turnout.

Hello?

There is zero evidence that Utica pays a fucking dime! It's widely known as a college deeply in the red. (Where do you get your news, from Breitbart?)

Guys seem to like having an actual audience there, and playing in front of 2500 warm bodies in the fanciest arena in all of D-3. Nobody who has played at Utica has ever made a meaningful career out of the game of hockey.

That seems to be about the extent of it, for Christ's sake. Give it a rest. You remind of that idiot Bondi, just throwing shit against the wall and hoping it'll stick.

It doesn't.
But the University is lucky to be able to play there, since they do not own it, I believe Oswego has the fanciest college owned arena in D3 with the best broadcast facilities in D3. This is from a Plattsburgh fan.

Wishing them well. We always had a blast at Albany.

Pearl St. was very handy for in-between games eats and drinks, and Maine never lost there lol.

It's a tough venue to beat vis-a-vis the fan experience. If they can draw 5-6K, good for them.

Oh, for fuck's sake. Anyone with half a brain would know when he said "sometimes mercenaries don't make good soldiers" was a figure of speech, not literally players who showed up just for the non existent money. He was using that metaphor for an example of when you bring people in (i.e., mercenaries) just for a specific purpose who were never a part of the overall team and culture, that they don't necessarily work as well as the team players (i.e., soldiers) who were there all along to play for the team and school.
And, FFS, mercenaries are, by definition, paid... The implication was clear. Anyone with the requisite "half a brain" could have picked up on that.

Guys transfer to Utica for the facilities and the fan-base, not for the non-existent money involved. Nobody "brought them in". They wanted to play here, end of story.

Even the guy who wrote that post agrees with me.

It's a figure of speech dickbrain. If you can't handle being wrong, that's on you.

We now have Fishman asserting that Utica does not recruit players. They are just beating down the door to come join the perennial national power Pios.
