Utica Home Game and NYS High Shcool Final Four...

Re: Utica Home Game and NYS High Shcool Final Four...

You'd think that they might have, considering how rigidly the start-times were said to be enforced by posters here.

Interesting thought, though I doubt Bowdoin would have turned down the chance to host if given the opportunity. We all know how they've fared on the road in the dance!!

I read four five minute OT's then a shootout if still tied !

Re: Utica Home Game and NYS High Shcool Final Four...

... That's what I'm afraid of.

I go to the HS tournament most years, and OT happens... Last I heard, the boys play one 15 period, then go to a shootout. I haven't seen that for myself, but if a couple of games get that far, the college game might start at 10 or later.

I'm wondering why Bowdoin agreed to this situation, or if they were given the choice or not.

The NCAA approved it before anyone knew who the opponent was going to be.

I heard the HS game times were shifted to earlier times in order to fit in the college game.

Your concerns is why I decided not to make the trip to cover the game. With the lose of the hour when we change the clocks that night and factoring time needed to attend the press conferences and finish the recap, then drive all the way home, I figured I would get to bed by 4:00am, if I'm lucky.

Re: Utica Home Game and NYS High Shcool Final Four...

If I remember correctly, last year 3 out of 4 games went to ot including one that went to the shoot -out. I think the 4th game started about 1.5 hours later than scheduled.

Interesting there is no shootout for the finals. Co-champions are declared. But, Saturday is the semifinals, so OT affecting the college start time is still a concern.

That is a practice in some other high school associations and sports as well. In Vermont, back in the day when my daughter played soccer that was the rule in soccer. If a championship game ended tied after OT (or as they call it in soccer "extra time"), both teams were declared champions. They did change the rule later on. Never affected Northfield though

There still can be up to four 7.5 min OT's though for both.

....20 minutes from now...

Sad part is, if there was one guy that could keep it going for that long it would be Ray too lol

Love the live video feed! Awesome plus. Unfortunately I'll be watching the game so won't be listening to Ray this week...

There has already been a triple OT game in the State Tournament this year, and there were many OT games in the Sectional rounds

Of course, past performance is no indicator of future behavior.
