Re: Utica College Pioneers 2012-13 Season

The way this forum seems to always have worked is that there are threads with discussion ABOUT particular teams, but that does not necessarily mean that said discussion is reserved exclusively for fans of the team in question. We all post in many threads, not just the one we support. Sorry if that's not to your liking, but I don't foresee it changing any time in the near future.

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2012-13 Season

So, all five of you are in favor of trolling Utica's thread, just for the purpose of sniping in reference to the Cortland loss..?

It's (sometimes) interesting to read comments about D-3 in general, but coming here to gloat is tantamount to peeing in your host's kitchen sink... That's rude and juvenile behavior, no matter how you slice it.

Anyway, a group-hug is apparently in order for you guys. Just be careful not to smudge each others' makeup in the process.

I will assume that was a serious inquiry, although I suspect it was intended as sarcasm. Let's see, there was @Plattsburgh, @Middlebury, Middlebury, St. Thomas, Neumann, and Conn. College.

Jerry, I apologize for being sarcastic, and I was doing so... Still, I contend that Norwich has only one top-shelf win this season, if you want to call beating Platty such a win. (Only time will tell on that one.)

I don't see M'bury as being a tournament team this season, nor do I regard CC or St. Thomas as such.

Reasonable minds can differ, but I don't see any paper-evidence that those three teams are even close at this point, on merit alone. Ergo, I opine that while Norwich might well be the best team in D-3 (and I have no first-hand frame of reference in that regard), their SOS is mediocre at best, especially when you consider the fact that the Cadets lost to Neumann at home.

There is little doubt that Norwich will win their conference and gain the AQ, but that doesn't seem especially noteworthy at this juncture, considering the above... Right now, I still see two strong teams in their past, and none in their future, with a .500 record vs. the former group. The SUNYAC and the W will have to sort things out on the ice, and against much stronger competition, clearly.

JMO.

Cortland is not that bad at all. Decent goaltending for once. It's making our early season 3-3 tie with them look less than embarrassing.

for sure they have 2 descent lines and the goaltending looks to be fairly solid, they scored 4 on Oz in the CC not bad,I expect a hard fought game this weekend

I agree completely. A contribution to any thread that is insightful, respectful and intelligent -or at a minimum, not mean-spirited- is absolutely fine... Thing is, that's not what I'm talking about here.

Mindless chirping about any team's loss on their home thread constitutes nothing more than lowly schadenfreude, plain and simple. If any of The Magnificent Seven were to say that they'd find that sort of intrusion welcome on their own team's thread, they'd be bald-faced liars... I guarantee that much.

Read some of the other team's threads, you'd be surprised. I invite you to visit the Norwich thread. You might even learn something about the team - and note that some of us even quarrel among ourselves. There's one poster who still owes another one a steak :D

Re: Utica College Pioneers 2012-13 Season

In way, way, way too premature news, coach Heenan was on local radio this morning and mentioned that if Utica were to qualify for the NCAA tournament and be awarded a home quarterfinal game, they would have to give it up due to scheduling conflicts at the Aud. Something to keep in mind as the regular season winds down. Hopefully, they are in a good enough position in six weeks where we fans have that to whine about.

With all the banter on here about Utica's lack of OOC road games historically, what an ironic twist of fate it would be if Utica earned an NCAA Quaterfinal home game and had to give it up and travel on the road...

After two years of saying how good they are, you would think they would have "reserved" a spot on the schedule "just in case" they do make it. Here's hoping they have to play on the road.

Just a guess at this time but I believe this is probably to do with this http://www.uticaaud.org/pages/calendar_add_event_show.cfm?m1=2&y1=2013&d1=23 and the NYSPHSAA finals in March that have been at the Aud for years!(long before UC had a team)

I would imagine they could finagle something??

I don't know if they could pull it off? I think The Aud is run by a public authority with appointments to the board through the state, and I can't imagine they would change the High School State Championships for anyone?
