Re: Utica College Pioneers 2011-2012
Official attendance was 3,976 or so, and there were a number of doe-eyed families with teddy bears in hand waiting outside the doors an hour into the game for any vacated seats that might turn up. (That was kinda sad, on many different levels.)
The game itself was a dog. It looked to be competitive enough early on, but it degenerated into an embarrassing 12-0 rout in the 3rd.
As a fan, I'd have to say that that UC under-schedules itself right now. I would prefer to see more competitive OOC games. Maybe try to pencil-in as many SUNY teams as is humanly possible..? At least that would make for better travel conditions and fewer blowouts.
Clearly the TBT is a popular promotion, and goes for a good cause, but I hate it just the same. I'd prefer to see people simply deposit the stuffed critters in receptacles as they enter, than to have them fling 2-3 thousand of them on the ice after UC scores... That really kills UC's momentum and generally slows down the game in general. (And I'm guessing that the visiting team really despises being pelted with all those cute lil' furry packages of cuddly love.)
Sincerely,
