Not sure at all why Canton's performance is *seemingly* pertinent to this discussion. People can pick nits for the sake of an argument, sure, but I don't recall anyone touting Canton as a contender, and certainly not me. They had a good start, have fallen back to the pack since then, and I have barely noticed.

Again, the beauty contest means nothing, whether Canton is "ranked" #1 or # 50. That's the point here.

The only metric that carries an ounce of weight via an AL bid is the PWR. Nothing else is worth wasting the key-strokes on.

Thats my point. The PWR had them at #4 and the coaches poll didnt have them anywhere close to that. Almost like they knew they didnt belong or something...

Just curious, box score shows last night's attendance over 4300. I think 3915 is sold out, did they sell 400 plus SRO tickets ?

Another "W" for Utica today. They could be a tough out come post season time. Wouldn't want to see them across the ice in March.

Well, maybe water sought its own level over time. (The PWR just crunched what numbers it had to process it at that early moment.)

The more data, the better.

(And, oddly, losing to Oswego this year qualifies as a bad loss.)

If they did, nobody stood, Shabby. ;)

UC sells a lot of no-show corporate blocks, which usually inflates attendance numbers. The only time(s) I've seen every seat occupied were TBT's and the post-season games.

Weird game.

Utica was up 2-0 after one, with a 20-1 SOG advantage. Utter domination. M'ville got close in the 2nd on maybe 5 shots, total, at that point. (The 5x3 didn't hurt.)

The officiating was putrid. Looked like the WWE with all the clutching and grabbing out there, and M'ville did it all.

I am biased for sure, but if that crap is let go, we're looking at mid-80's hockey again. Even the MC dad next to me commented that unless they pull a gun, it's all good.

Well, the poll had Utica at #12 or so back then, too. Same difference. No accountability nor logic was involved in either instance.

The coaches poll is for the weekly "it's fun to see where my team is" (or isn't) thrill on Monday afternoons. But as for substance the PWR is what matters now for AL bids. Over the years as I learn more, I've learned to pay more attention to what matters for the Big Dance. Last one standing is all that the players and coaches will remember anyways.

I heard four players left. One transferred to Naz. Others (I heard) showed up tipsy, shall we say, to practice and then we're showed the door. But that's not confirmed, just what is in the grapevine. Not sure if all 3 others or just one or what. But shortly after I heard this, team's play improved markedly.

Well -and maybe more to the point- those 4 guys were 1-0-1 in the aggregate with very little ice-time this season.

Etelisano was a historical contributor, but the others weren't, and the roster was jam-packed to begin with. I expected a purge of expendable forwards at the mid-season mark.

(Gerson's departure was the lone head-scratcher to me, him being a Senior. Heenan has a history of rewarding his veterans.)

I interrogate a couple of parents when I see them on the concourse, but their stories generally don't match-up well enough to repeat them here.

Still, I wouldn't call the roster moves a shake-up. Nobody who left played any significant minutes.

But, yeah, UC is a far better team than it was in the 1st half. The Fr. have come on strong, yes, but Landrigan's return from injury has been a very key piece of the puzzle. He's the most talented player on the roster, and he's having an All-American caliber 2nd half so far.

(And I don't know him or anyone in his circle, but he's a special player. You could see it coming when he showed-up in Utica. His return has been a big deal.)

9-1 win tonight. Team is scary and seems to score at will. Landrigan adds a whole different element to this team. I dont think there is a better d3 player in the nation right now
