USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

Re: USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

I was at the Weird Al concert last night. What a blast! When doing costume changes, he's playing old music videos, or clips of him appearing in various TV shows, and a bit form UHF.

Something that I noticed during his performance is that nobody was going to the concession stands during the show. Normally at a Minnesota State Fair concert, you can see loads of people going to those stands (they're located along the same wall as the main concert stage, just off into the far wings. Last night, there were maybe 6 or 7 people being served at a given time. Everybody was into the show, and he had a 41-piece symphony orchestra on stage with his normal four band members.

I like how he got some of the old classics out of the way with a quick lounge medley at the beginning, then fired right off into "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota." He didn't do that song the last time he came through.

The man knows how to put together a show, that's for certain. The props he had, and the number of costumed people out there for the encore, his equipment trailer has to be large and packed tight.

ETA: And of course, people went crazy for The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. To that end, he tweeted out a picture of the street sign next to the real ball a couple days ago, where the street name was changed to Weird Alley. He had a little fun with that.

Watching fireworks go off above a Weird Al with outstretched arms while shouting "YODA!" at the top of my lungs will be a good memory.

Hell yeah it will be. My fave, and prob his best parody.

As for Belinda Carlisle, on the Houghton trip, my friend insisted she was playing, and I kept saying "I think you mean Brandi Carlisle." Well, we were both right. I'm guessing Belinda played all 3 of her hit songs (which I love, btw, don't get me wrong). :D

Leave it up to me while I be livin' proof
To kick the truth to the young black youth
But shorty's runnin' wild, smokin' sess, drinkin' beer
And ain't tryin' to hear what I'm kickin' in his ear

Re: USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

Just getting back from Dropkick Murphy’s. Great show, played the hits of course (except Kiss Me I’m S-faced :( ) though two best of songs were covers of I Fought The Law and Which Side Are You On.

Though I’m sure more than a few missed the point of Which Side Are You On...

Callin' me a dog, well leave a dog alone
Cause nothin' can stop me from buryin' my bones
In the backyard of someone else's house
Ol' Dirt Dog, but I'm not dogged out
Here comes Rover, sniffin' at your a*
But pardon me b*, as I sh* on your grass
That means ho, you been sh*ed on
I'm not the first dog that's sh*ed on your lawn

Re: USCHO Music Thread: Less Talk, More Rock

It's the Method Man for short Mr. Meth
Moving on your left, ah!
And set it off, get it off, let it off like a gat
I wanna break full, cock me back
Small change, they putting shame in the game
I take aim and blow that nigga out the frame
And like Fame, my style'll live forever
N---- crossing over, but they don't know no better
But I do, true, can I get a "sue"
Nuff respect due to the one-six-oh
I mean oh, you check out the flow
like the Hudson or PCP when I'm dusting
N---- off because I'm hot like sauce
The smoke from the lyrical blunt makes me [cough]

I guess if Kep, Brent, and I go on a road trip, we're listening to the Wu-Tang Clan the entire way.

And all the offshoots/solo acts. ;)

I mean, gotta have some Gravediggaz in there:

Dragging their a*es on my hook by their temples
The cause of death is unknown to the cops
Cause when I kill 'em, I’m not leaving one element to autops'
First I'll assassinate him, and them I'll cremate him
Then take all of his f*ing ashes and evaporate him
I'll creep through the graveyard and hunt down your tombstone
Dig up your skeleton and stomp all your f*ing bones

Take my car, a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country? It seats 7 and has a decent sound system.

My current vehicle has enough "bump" in the stock system to make the rear-view mirror worthless. Good enough for me. :D I don't need a boom-car. ;)

Yeah, but right now, my car has room for my knee scooter and our stuff.
