Golden Hour, the new Kacey Musgraves album. It's pretty good. Not as tongue-in-cheek as much as her two previous albums. There's some quality humor on those. At first pass this new album focused more on the music than the humor.

I think I recognize that name, due to The Current. If it's who I'm thinking of, she's pretty good.

89.3 is doing a voter-based top 893 needed songs marathon. Started yesterday, IIRC, it's been rather interesting. They go from 8am-7pm, again, IIRC each day. Now, this is during a donation drive, so more talk than usual between songs, but the songs they play? YASSSSSSSSSSSSSS. And no repeats, obviously.

The top songs are by voter submission. Every voter submitted a Top Ten, and they counted the votes. No pre-list, it was open-vote.

I'm convinced Norah Jones or Hope Sandoval can read phone directories to me and I'd hang on every word.

Edit. Oh duh. As soon as I heard Hope it hit me.

If you like their voices, check out Denali. Not jazz but I’ve always loved French Mistake.

She's also the female voice for the duo She & Him.

Yeah. She’s the whole package.

I didn’t know about She & Him until recently. Good stuff. IINM, those two also teamed up for other songs (e.g Never Had Nobody Like You)

Speaking of them, I've been cataloguing my music collection on Discogs lately. Someone paid almost $250 dollars for the same pressing of the She Hangs Brightly record that I own. Damm. Course, that was probably an unopened copy in mint condition.


Been working on a Mink DeVille collection lately. A band I used to hear lots of good things about, and saw in the record racks all the time in the 80's, but I never picked up on them. Until about 5 years ago, I had only heard one Mink DeVille song in my life, and yes, it was great. Still never got into them.


Until I heard this, 5-6 years ago. This is just hawt. A groove you can drive a truck through.
