Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Playing a 1990s one-hit wonder mix I made back at NMU... currently listening to "Cannonball" by the Breeders.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Also... this:

Me in 1999: "Backstreet Boys/NSync really suck and I want their videos off MTV. Cancel Total Request Live!"

I think my brain is screwing with me, because that changed to this:

Me in 2016: "You are my fire, the one desire... believe when I say, that I want it that way..."

And it really doesn't help the MSS (front end supervisors) have chosen Backstreet Boys Radio on iHeartRadio/Pandora as the music for the store every time I've worked recently.

One time while playing MTG at my local shop one of the younger kids was complaining about One Direction: "I don't understand why the girls like them. They're just gonna be gone in two years and that'll be the last of Harry Styles and company!"

I replied: "That's what we thought about Justin Timberlake. And yet, 15 years later, we now respect him. And his music."

Friend replied: "It's true. He brought **** back. We didn't know how to act."

Edit: *ing SierraEchoXrayYankee gets filtered?

Wait, we respect Justin Timberlake?

I will admit I kinda like him as an actor, but as a musician? No.

His music is not my general cup of tea, but I think he's done pretty well musically and iirc he writes much of the material. Hell Mirrors/Suit & Tie are two of more catchy tunes of the past several years I'm not afraid to admit and if you've paid attention to my musical tastes in these forums you know that's way, way out of my wheelhouse.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

I dig some of his newer songs, like the aformentioned bleeped out song.

Better as an actor, though.

Jeff Buckley: "Grace"

I have "Grace" and his cover of "Hallelujah", now to pick up his one studio album.

Started listening to him when Myles Kennedy (Mayfield Four, Alter Bridge, Slash's "solo" band) cited him as a big influence. Great voice. Like many of the greats, died far too young.

Temple of the Dog is doing a reunion tour. It'll be a whopping five dates, two shows on the east coast and three out west. It was almost a good thing.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Oasis: "What's The Story, Morning Glory?"

Listening to the amount of guitar solos on "Champagne Supernova" alone, you can tell that Noel and Liam were drunk/high as f-ck at that time.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Bunch of us are going to the "Rock Hall Three for All" tour tomorrow to see Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick. It's outdoors, supposed to be in the low 90's and the place is banged out.

Note to self, don't eat the brown acid. ;)
