Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

she's right on the cusp for me. There might be other limitations on whether or not that could or would ever happen, though.

say you'll remember me
standing in a nice dress,
staring at the sunset, babe
red lips and rosy cheeks
say you'll see me again
even if it's just in your
wildest dreams

I'm really digging the new Kendrick Lamar lp. This is easily my favorite hip hop album of the past 20 years.

And finally my local record store called to say Bowie's Blackstar is back in stock. I can't wait to get into this one this weekend

Corrosion of Conformity: "King of The Rotten"
Dream Theater: "Metropolis, Pt. 1 The Miracle and the Sleeper"

And others on a heavy metal compilation that a friend gave me.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Cube's "Death Certificate" album. So great from start to finish.

Dude can slam the rhymes.

To continue the gangsta rap kick:

Eazy E's "Eazy Duz It."

There is a certain verse that is probably one of the more famous verses in rap history, from "Nobody Move." EVERYONE knew that verse back in the day. Listen to the song, and I bet you'll know which verse I'm talking about. ;)

Always remember "Eazy-Er Said Than Dunn" from GTA San Andreas.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Listened to the following this weekend up in the UP...all nostalgia picks (sorry kids)

Voivod - Angel Rat
Radiohead - ok computer
Soul Asylum - while you were out

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

I'm trying to see what others see in Velvet Underground so today I gave White Light/White Heat a go...It just wasn't doing it for me

Any VU fans here? What's the entry point for this band? So many bands I love reference them as an inspiration I feel like I should be able to get into them but thusfar I've been unmoved

"Ohio" by Over the Rhine. Slap Shot was the third person to recommend this one.

"Angels Fall First" by Nightwish. They're from Finland, and it's very good. Heavy metal with an opera singer on lead vocals.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Just got back from seeing Voivod tonight. Gd were they impressive. If metal/thrash/prog is your thing do yourselves a favor and check em out. They did an excellent job of mixing new and older material.

Hard to believe it's been 25 years since they headlined a tour with Soundgarden and Faith No More as openers

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Instantly liked it from the opening piano of "B.P.D." Will have to get more from them.

My favorite is Eve although it's a completely different sounding album. Films for Radio and The Trumpet child are a bit closer to Ohio and also very nice pieces. Till We Have Faces is ok and haven't heard the others.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 3: They Heard Me Singing

Did anybody else see the Foo Fighters' video they released to squash breakup rumors? Funny guys... bad actors. :)

New discovery for me as I stumbled upon it trying to kill an iTunes card.

I've listened to it probably 6 or 7 times since Monday.

Easily one of my favorite roots reggae albums of all time. Not afraid to proclaim that this early. Can't get enough of it.

I like some reggae but haven't heard of this, I'll have to check it out.

Just purchased the new Kendrick Lamar lp and Chris Cornell's most recent solo album...so far so good.
