Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

One of my favorite "chill" albums.

Here's the funny part. I'm not exactly a fan of Courtney Love, but in a way, she "introduced" me to this album by playing Fade Into You one night when she did a SiriusXM takeover on the Lithium channel, and I happened to be channel surfing.

For the first time in nearly 20 years...

I'm going to see the Grateful Dead today. :)

Most excited. Lots of great memories coming back.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

"What's The Story, Morning Glory?"- Oasis

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Gurt, I'm very jealous. Figures I leave the country and they have a show.:p

I'm going through a 2014 release binge today:

Eagulls - Eagulls
Lake Street Drive - Bad Self Portraits
The Men - Tomorrow's Hits
Real Estate - Atlas
Broken Bells - After the Disco
Sleeper Agent - About Last Night
Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Wig Out at Jagbags
Warpaint - Warpaint
Young the Giant - Mind Over Matter

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

The lot was wAy fun and now I'm in my seat. I've been to hundreds of other concerts and there's nothing quite like a dead show. :)

She's got electric boots a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine, oh
Bennie and the Jets

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Found a mix with James Brown "Living In America" on it... felt that song HAD to be played today.

Oh, the b-tch, oh the b-tch is back
Stone cold sober as a matter of fact
I can b-tch, I can b-tch
Cause I'm better than you

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Today and yesterday I have been on a 2013 release kick. Some of this music I downloaded from the library and haven’t listened to in full before this stretch. In particular Bleeding Rainbow which is fantastic – they sound like a mix of PJ Harvey, Sonic Youth and Juliana Hatfield. Alphabetically so far:

Arctic Monkeys – AM
Atoms for Peace – Amok
The Black Angels – Indigo Meadow
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Specter at the Feast
Black Sabbath – 13
Bleeding Rainbow – Yeah Right
Blood Orange – Cupid Deluxe
Body/Head – Coming Apart
Bombino – Nomad
Cage the Elephant – Melophobia
David Bowie – The Next Day
Depeche Mode – Delta Machine

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Not surprisingly, it's Grateful Dead week...

Doing Cal Expo 8/12/91 right now and did 8/13 earlier.

Did 5/7/77 and 5/9/77 yesterday, the less famous brothers of 5/8, but just as great with a few other songs.

And on and on...

Probably be on this wave for a bit.

After last nights show, it's official. Mrs busterman has gone full blown groupie for these guys It's a great live show. Go if you can.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Yeah, they're playing here tomorrow, but I have to go out of town.

Bummed.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Colin Hay, "Man At Work"

I'd heard a couple Men At Work songs from the 1980s, but was introduced to Colin Hay's solo career through the TV show "Scrubs."

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Poison - Look What the Cat Dragged In

It's the embodiment of what I love about the 80s - a dumb, fun album that doesn't make me think, and a lot of self-deprecating humor in songs like the title track and "Want Some, Need Some".

Great album.

Was feeling self-reflective tonight, that was a mistake. Listened to "Something Different" by Godsmack (really like them) and "Noodlebrain" by The Queers (love them).
