Ozzy - Tribute

Earlier I listened to the second disc of the Legacy Edition of Diary of a Madman - a concert from the Blizzard of Oz Tour that was recorded while they were working on Diary of a Madman. Follow? :)

I've mentioned this before on here but it's worth repeating - great, great performance. If you like Rhodes era Ozzy and don't have this, you should get it.

Earlier still, I listened to P.M. Dawn - The Bliss Album

"Trouble Will Find Me" by the National. Easily their most depressing album, best enjoyed with a bottle of something alcoholic.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I made the mistake of listening to Chuck Mangione last Saturday. Stuck in my head for a week.

I used to be really into him back when I was in college. I still think his Hollywood Bowl album is fantastic, especially Chase The Clouds Away.

I used to play trumpet, from sixth grade until junior year at Tech. Him and Herb Alpert are both major earworms for me.

U2 concert tonight in Chicago.

Haven't seen them since 97.

Taking the 16 year old son and as I saw them in Chicago when I was 17 (in 87), it's a full circle sorta thing.

He's been to concerts, but nothing on this scale.

Looking forward to it. :)

U2 - 10/28/87 Rosemont Horizon

First ever rock concert that I attended.

Really nice audience recording that sounds excellent in the great room with the high ceilings.

:)

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Someone tried to tell me that listening to Amy Winehouse was bad for the soul. WRONG! When I'm having a downer of a day, I can't think of anyone else I'd rather listen to.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

The U2 show was great. The band was very energized and LOUD.

Apparently Mick Jagger was in the house (Stones played Milwaukee last night) as Bono gave a shout out.

The boy loved it too.

Today:

Radiohead- Hail to the Thief
Amy Winehouse- Frank
The National- Trouble Will Find Me
Counting Crows- Somewhere Under Wonderland

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Alice in Chains – Unplugged.

I’m reminded of when MTV did Unplugged fairly regularly and a local station would air the broadcast at the same time thereby you could record the show onto cassette (during the pre-CD days). I had at least a dozen shows recorded most of which unlike AIC and Nirvana were never released in any format. Two of my favorites were REM and The Cure. Somewhere along the line they were lost and I’d love to have them on CD one day.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Listening to Hank III, Straight to Hell this afternoon.

edit: first time I've listened to this through. Country Heroes is a great song. D Ray White is a song just about the "Whites", the ones from W. Virginia. Wow. (Yes, Brent, I've seen the movie)

edit2: My god. This is aggressive. And often extremely offensive...no, really, EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE.

Not in the "extremely offensive" category but still: "I think I'd rather eat the barrel of the double-barrel loaded shotgun than hear that **** they call pop country on 98.1."

The Gits - Frenching the Bully

A 35 minute blast of some of the best pure punk rock from the early 90s era. RIP Mia Zapata.

I hate country but Hank III is kind of kick arse.
