Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

70's Radio Playlist... around 150 songs, many from artists that this is the only song I have.

Notables so far this morning:

Zep - Night Flight
Avg. White Band - Pick up the Pieces
KC - Get Down
Al Stewart - Year of the Cat
Stones - Gimme Shelter
Steely - Do it Again
Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting :D
Curtis Mayfield - Pusherman
Donovan - Season of the Witch
Big Star - September Gurls

The 70s... my first and sometimes (most times) favorite decade. Had a flashback to riding home from little league in the back of my buddy's dad's El Camino... wind in hair... golden sunshine...

This playlist is the soundtrack. :)

:(

Now, Lady by Styx is on and it's forever tied for me to this...

Quite possibly the most uncomfortable/awkward/real scene to ever be on a TV show. I still can't get through it. Makes my insides turn to knots for Nick...

:D

LOVE this playlist for all it brings back.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

When did Green Day become classic rock?

As soon as their Dookie dropped.

Pretty much since Dookie. I would argue it's the only good album they ever released, but I would also say the same for Weezer - a couple decent singles, but nothing actually good since Pinkerton.

Currently listening to Salty Dog. I can't decide if they're blues rock or hair metal. I'm going to say a blend of both. D*mn are "Sacrifice Me" and "Nothin' But a Dream" good though.

It was more of an age comment. I was a teenager when Dookie was released, and I remember listening to Green Day and Nirvana on the alternative rock station. Now Green Day and Nirvana are on the classic rock station, and music from the 1980s is on the oldies channel.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Driving to hockey tonight, the boy and I couldn't think of anything to listen to and scrolling through he laughed and said, "Dokken! Let's do Dokken!"

Playlist from the first three albums. Used to love George Lynch and always thought Dokken was better than most other hair bands because of him.

Certainly don't hear in it what I did in the 80s as a teenager, but was fun to rock the van with the boy who is now the age I was when I used to listen to it.

"She promised paradise... WITH THE KISS OF DEATH!"

:D

I don't know that I could name a single Dokken song. I certainly know a fair amount of other hair band stuff out there, but not Dokken.

My buddy at work leant me the Nirvana box set. I'm going to give that a listen over the weekend.
