Now... going in a very different direction with...

Alborosie - 5 albums on shuffle

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Tame Impala

Their first is Innerspeaker (with a rerelease second CD, Extraspeaker).

Most recent is Lonerism.

For you older listeners, think the psychedelic side of The Beatles (lead singer sounds kinda like John Lennon) and Cream (think Disraeli Gears) and a mix of a lot of other sounds--Supertramp is said to be an influence.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Seeing that Brian Williams "Gin & Juice" mash-up put me in the mood for my Dre & Snoop playlist. From just The Chronic & Doggystyle.

Always looked at these two albums as parts of the same thing idea. As such, they flow pretty well together. Here's the order of my playlist:

The Chronic (Intro)
***** Wit Dre Day
G Funk Intro
Gin & Juice
The Shiznit
Let Me Ride
Day the N's Took Over*
Murder was the Case
G Thang
Deeeeeezzz Nutts :D
Serial Killa
Lil' Ghetto Boy
Who Am I?
A N Witta Gun*
Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat
Ain't No Fun
The $20 Sack Pyramid :)
Doggy Dogg World
The Doctor's Office
*****es Ain't ****
Gz & Hustlas
Pump Pump
The Roach (Outro)

Tried to add in Straight Outta Compton, but it's a much different and primitive feel. Didn't work.

Typically don't have much (any) use for rap or hip hop, but The Chronic, imo is an all time great album - any genre.

Gz Up, Ho's Down. :p:D

Have the office door closed... obviously.

* Title edited in case it's against board rules, even though they're actual song titles.

There is a Parise. Mats tix go on sale Sat morn.

I can't wait. Hardly wait

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Mats tix? For where?

I heard they were gonna tour, why Tommy isn't playing with G'n'R, and Duff is back, but haven't heard how extensively, or where they'll be. i'll have to search that stuff out.

Midway Stadium in St Paul on September 13th. It's a Saturday if you had any desire to want to travel here I could put you up for a night.

Looked up their schedule, and they're gonna be playing the Boston Calling festival the first week of September. Trouble is, it's a three day festival, tons of bands, tix go on sale Mon., $75 for a single day, $150 for a three day pass, and the event website says they won't have a schedule of who's playing when until a few weeks before the thing takes place. Now what kind of BS sorta promotion is that?

I dunno if I really want to go anyway. I've seen Westerberg playing Replacements songs on his solo tours, and for all intents and purposes, that's what this is, only with Tommy along for the ride. I mean, Josh Freese and Minehan played with Paul on several of his solo tours, so really, how is this so special? It's still not really The Replacements. And I'm definitely not dropping $150 bucks just to go and see one day.

I wouldn't do that either for most of the same reasons. But it's only one day here for $50 and rumor has it there will be special appearances and other bands involved. Obviously Slim is in no condition to play, but I do wish Mars would suck it up and play.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Bloodflowers is a good album

It's kind of like Killing Joke meets the 90s (no "electronic" dance beat)...kinda sorta...maybe? Good stuff though, appreciate it.

EDIT: I hear whiffs of Soundgarden and Nirvana in there...?

Loving Beck's new album "Morning Phase." I'm not usually into his really laid-back stuff. Couldn't stand "Sea Change" when it came out. Maybe I have grown up a bit. What a scary thought.
