USCHO Music: That's Me Inside Your Head

One of my favorite bands going on 40 years now. This is a cover of a song written by Michael Hall, of the Austin band The Wild Seeds. Sounds nothing like his version.

While they had great originals, The Silos also had great taste in cover songs. They did a version of Lucinda Williams' Change The Locks years before Tom Petty had a hit with it, and while Petty's version was just a pretty basic cover, The Silos version was infused with portent and menace. Violin is played by Mary Rowell, who I believe currently holds some sort of music teaching/affiliate at Middlebury College in Vermont. Lovely lady.

Another of my fave bands you probably never heard of.

The two most talented guys in the band are the bass player, and the keyboardist, James Gray. My personal thought is that during his time in the band, he played a large role in arranging the songs, coming up with keyboard parts, and other small bits that helped make the songs better. Cause they haven't been the same since he left the band. And sadly, he died maybe ten or so years ago from a heart attack caused by untreated diabetes.

In this video, the drummer is actually the guitar player, while the guitar player is the drummer. Not sure if they actually played these parts during the actual recording, but I'm assuming they did.

But an absolutely beautiful song
