USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

You have if you have been within a mile of a mall since 2010.

It's "catchy."
What a shock, Kepler doesn't like things others do...

There's a reason they were the biggest musical act globally prior to having to do their military service. Their reunion tour this summer will challenge TSwift for the biggest ever.

K-pop isn't my genre of choice, either, but I'm still expecting to enjoy the show.

Poor stoopid fucked up Chet Baker.

God damnit my Brother, heroin is one thing but to lose you before your time was a crime. Listen to the line from about 2:30 to 3:30. There are such oceans of sadness and profundity there. Michaelangelo took 7 years to do what you knocked out in a single night, with time out for hits.

You bloody fool.

Canceled Spotify Premium and went to Tidal.

Turn On The Bright Lights by Interpol while driving through thick snow. Hearing "love is in the kitchen with a culinary eye" helped keep me calm.

My only complaint with Tidal is that their service does occasionally hang, I assume due to the size of the HQ audio files vs. available bandwidth. It seems to happen most often when streaming on cellular data in the car, which makes sense.

Word on the digital street is that Tom Morello is making a last-minute visit to play at First Avenue tonight. Hm, what could’ve prompted that?
And now Springsteen will be joining him.

ETA: As much as I like Springsteen, his Minneapolis protest song just isn’t hitting right for me. It just sounds bad.

Don't get me wrong I am happy he wrote this song. The message is poignant. But it needs to be in a style most people will actually connect with.

Kind of felt like Bruce wrote that with a nod to Bob Dylan. Not a song that will go down in the annals but it hits at the moment when interspersed with scenes of the protests.

…dropped a pretty penny for Rush tickets.

This will be a huge nostalgia trip for
Me as I’ve seen them roughly a dozen times…while they’re not a go-to band for me as a 50-something, I am really curious to see what Anika Nilles can do for them. She has a swing to her playing which I think May reinvigorate the tunes. Don’t get me wrong I love Neil Peart to the end of the world and as a drummer and lyricist, but as I get older having a swing or some movement in the drums moves me more and more.

Since I had a decent amount of time in planes the last several weeks I got some good music listening in.

2020's Hum album "Inlet" is SO GOD DAMNED GOOD.

Go listen to it. Now.

It's more doomy than their previous albums but loses none of the shoegaze/post rock feel or their "wall of sound" guitar tone. I've loved this band since I heard "Stars" on the radio and I'm so glad we ended up getting one final album.
