USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

Got my tickets to The Warning in Minneapolis. First concert I've actively sought tickets myself for in probably 25 years. Everything else I've gone to has been someone else asking me to go with them.

Turned on the Top Gun soundtrack for fun while doing dishes and proceeded to tell my six year old son that a lot of the songs were written by one the greatest musicians ever, Kenny Loggins.

This is clearly a lie but damn do I feel proud.

I have the soundtrack playing in my car.

Harold Faltermayer was never unemployed in the 80s.

Teddy Swims is my newest addiction! Thanks to the amazing internet connection from cricket wireless, I can listen to him all day long without any interruptions. His voice is incredible, and the emotion he pours into every song just blows me away. I've been obsessed with his music lately, and it’s the perfect soundtrack to my day. I would absolutely love to visit one of his concerts one day and experience his talent live.

Johnny Winter – Be Careful with a Fool
Stars – Ageless Beauty
Radiohead – Karma Police
The Flaming Lips – Race for the Prize
*Nada Surf – Enjoy the Silence
David Bowie – Valentine’s Day
Chris Cornell – Seasons
Adia Victoria – Stuck in the South
John Lee Hooker – Boggie Chillin’
CSNY – Almost Cut My Hair

*I really love this version

Trying out Tidal as a potential replacement for Spotify, which the wife and I dropped the Premium version of a couple months back for various reasons. Fed it most of my 90s likes, with some 70s and 80s mixed in. Hooked up the Sonys and going to town. The audio fidelity is indeed the strong point, and the vast majority of tracks seem to be at least "High" quality (16-bit, 44.1 Khz), including some of the more obscure bands I listen to. That said, the "Max" quality tracks (24-bit, 192 Khz) some of which are Dolby Atmos-enabled for an immersive experience, are a real treat.

The UI is perhaps slightly less intuitive than other services, but it works fine both in-browser and in-app.

Probably not enough old guys like me who appreciate this and it may not be Greg, Duane, Dickie and Barry but all these guys played with the Allman brothers and just did a 2 night show at Madison Square Garden. Unfuckin real

Only two left now.

Andy Gill, one of the most innovative guitarists of the post punk era. now thought by his widow to have been one of the first victims of Covid back in early 2020.

And just a few weeks ago, Dave Allen, a tremendous bass player.

Travelled to Red Wing, MN (I love this city!) today and went to the local record store…god damn, I forgot Greg Norton lives here!!!

There it was “Warehouse Songs and Stories” with his initials on it. I should have bought it. Ah well….
Husker Du will always be a personal favorite!
