USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

USCHO1 is all set up at Fantasy College Hockey.
Here's how you enter your team...
1. go to fantasycollegehockey.com
2. sign up. click the box that you are joining a league: USCHO1 (password is: uscho1)
3. enter your roster under GM Home. You have to fill in all 24 players for it to register

Some rosters are missing from the database. I couldn't input my players from Boston College, Michigan or Quinnipiac. There may be other schools missing also. Don't worry (yet ;)) if you can't enter your roster as you drafted. If your player doesn't show up on the database someone will fix it (zudnic, big_bluedl). Just enter in some scrubs from the database that haven't been drafted by anyone to fill out your roster. Once the remaining school rosters have been added, you can add your drafted players then.
TIP: Add any drafted players to the Active Roster. Add any scrub fill-ins as Bench Players. Easier to remove them and add your drafted players later that way.

P.S. If you accidentally add someone else's drafted player to your roster, don't worry, you most certainly will hear about it. ;)

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

I just started a new thread in the Cafe... USCHO1 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season.

This will be the place for USCHO1 League members to post questions, make comments and talk smack about their gawd awful team. I'm hoping this will help generate input, interest and camaraderie between team owners throughout the season.

I'm going to start new threads for the USCHO2 and USCHO3 leagues as well, but please continue to get any future draft information from big_bluedl at this thread up to your league draft. I will start the new threads after each league's draft is complete.

Subscribe to your league thread through the Thread Tools menu so you will be notified by email of any new updates on your league. Good luck to all. Let's have some fun with this. :)

Also, for anyone that is seeing this for the first time, we still have spots in the other 2 leagues, and we're drafting this Thursday and Friday. Let me know if you want in. Also, check out the first post in this thread for more information on signing up.

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

Hey everyone, I have made some changes to the draft tool, I hope that these will make everything a little cleaner and make it even easier to use.

here is the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApfOnU5g-h_ndGY4RGZtZDBlRDJtLThYLTVDWjRnbkE

Feel free to mess around with it, enter player names positions and schools, and see how the features work. I have a copy saved so if anyone screws it up I can restore the original version.

Updates to this version include:
- Instructions tab that will open first
- Notifications for players that have left school early
- Duplicate picks notification feature has been fixed
- Roster Alerts added, to notify a GM if he/she has exceeded the 6F-4D-2G requirement (on the 8 team league tabs only)

Any feedback would be great!

Nice! I played around a little.

I also typed in a player that graduated last season. It said he was good. I know it would be difficult for this season, but is there any way the spread sheet can track this years seniors so when they get entered next season, they will be Not Good next year? Separate column where we enter the class of the player this year? Just a thought.

I don't know how that would work, it would end up being a pretty large and comprehensive list. It is something we can try to do for next year, but I won't be able to do it this year. The "left early" list is specifically for players that left with eligability remaining, if someone drafts a player that graduated, on time, then at this point, I'd say its on them to know that the player isn't on a roster anymore.

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

I was thinking if there was another column that had the year of the player (Fr, So, Jr, Sr), any Sr this year would then be eliminated from the database next year. But, since there really isn't a database, it would be pretty hard and time consuming to do.

Besides, you are right. It is more than reasonable to expect a GM to know if a player is on a current roster or not.

I originally tried to make it so every player that is currently on a roster is in a drop-down list, but I think the list of players was too large, so it broke Google everytime you tried to click on the drop-down menu. All of the players that are currently on a D1 roster (with the exception of AIC and Quinnipiac freshmen, since they hadn't updated their rosters yet)are still in that spreadsheet if someone wants to figure out a way to do it.

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

I have sent out information to both of the next 2 leagues to draft, if you didn't get anything, let me know.

We currently have a full 8 people drafting on Thursday and 2 open slots on Friday. We are going to draft for the open slots, if no one takes them, but if anyone else is interesting in playing, there are only 2 spots left.

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

Is what you have on the spreadsheet currently the draft order? Personally I think I have the 2nd best draft spot if I am to have the last pick, but if you're going to change it up there, that's fine by me.

The order on the spreadsheet is the correct draft order. Before I sent out the email to everyone I used excel and did a random number generator to determine the draft order, so it was completely luck of the draw.

Personally, I hate having the first or second picks, but I don't like the last pick either. I would love to be in the middle of the round every time.

I don't have a preference, but middle of the pack is pretty good. One thing for certain is you have to adjust how you draft based on where you're drafting. First or last sure is a long wait between picks when your watching your favorites disappear from the board. ;)

That's what I don't like, is the long wait between picks. I'd rather have the more even waits between picks instead of picking 2 players back to back.

In a sport like hockey, I'd rather have the first pick or the last pick, because I can then get two players on the same line that complement each other and pick them in succession.

Re: USCHO Fantasy College Hockey: Season 11

This is getting ridiculous. The season starts this weekend and they still don't have the players loaded from Minnesota and BC.
