Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I was hoping I would be the only one with that strategy, but I had a feeling I wouldn't be.

Definitely not the only one. But I would imagine the trend would be more towards 80's/Early 90's wrestlers rather than a current guy (or girl, in Luna's case  ).

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I've got 6 or 7 left to pick. Got plenty of ailing old farts, so I'll probably just brainstorm some left fielders.

if you need bad ideas, i was going to pick bobby bowden (got nothing now to live for) or joepa (cause let's face it, he is dying in that job). but then i thought better of it because both will outlive me!! :D

(so there, pick mookie  )

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Justin Bieber had to cancel a show at the New York State Fair. Come on poisoning, but I'm sure some people want him to hold off until September 1. :D

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Ugh. I'm not going to lie, this made me sick to my stomach trying to pick people. All in good fun.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Today is the last day, if anyone else wants to participate, send me your lists today!

I got all of the lists sent last night and this morning.

There are some people that I can't find ages for, most I don't consider questionable, but for some reason ages aren't listed on wikipedia. The way we'll work whether someone on a list is actually famous enough is that we'll all have 2 days to look at each others lists, and if a name doesn't cut it, we'll have a vote, and majority rules. So far there are 2, maybe 3 names that are questionable.

Also, if anyone has questions about common names, where there could be questions about which person with that name is actually meant to be on the list, bring that up right away. Most of the time people have included a short description for ones that may be confusing, so I have that info.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

It is surprising which people have been picked by multiple posters. Some that I have thought were way out there have been picked more than once. And then there are some that have only been picked once that are surprisingly not on more lists.

Here is the list of how many people left on each list that are only on one list:
Bigblue_dl - 9
Dude Love - 10
Red Cloud - 18
JF_Gophers - 15
huskyfan - 12
mookie 1995 - 20
Shirtless Bob - 22
Kepler - 14
ajoyce02 - 10
MountieBoyOz - 10
IrishWildcat - 18
Busterman62 - 6
ExileOnDaytonStreet - 10
Shirtless Guy - 11
Melmac - 12
AMCoffee - 16
dxmnkd316 - 13
Hammer - 11
FadeToBlack&Gold - 13
aparch - 22

There has been one person that is on 11 of 20 lists. After that, there are 2 people that have been on 8 and 7 that have been on 7.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Based on those numbers, I sense that a number of us followed a similar process:

Step 1: Thought of our top 3-5

Step 2: Visited other dead pool websites and scanned the top lists to get another 15 or so names of old/frail/alcoholic/druggie/anorexic celebrities.

Step 3: Picked a few local, regional, and/or "cult-status" personalities

Step 4: Got creative/wishful/maverick-y :p

It seems that way. It is obvious when someone tried to go way off board and avoided all of the easy picks.

I also got the impression that some of the picks were just people that posters hoped would die. :p
