Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

I’m trying haggis for the first time since I made it to Scotland.

Because why the hell not?

Chicken livers sauteed with a bit of onion: not bad.

However, I think it's time to batter and fry them.

I tried LaCroix. It... wasn't terrible. Wasn't that special either. I'll take it if it's offered, but definitely not adding it to the grocery list every week.

I also tried RX Bars. Hard to chew and the flavor of dates overwhelmed everything else in the bar. Hard pass.

Mayo Update 4 - Final Report

Mayo was not seen in any countries after Belgium. Fries in other countries rarely came with ketchup, but only upon request and it was an extra charge.

No other meals had mayo. Cream cheese was often used where mayo would have been present on certain sandwiches.

I don’t remember if it was someone on here, but one of the things someone pointed out when coming back is how you notice just how salty the foods are here.

Holy crap they were right. My first lunch back tasted like someone had just dumped a tablespoon of salt on it. Ish.

Interesting. All the pics of German currywurst meals I've seen, the fries come with mayo.

Could be. I didn’t get the currywurst. I wanted to try it but it’s been described as basically meat covered in curry-flavored ketchup. Didn’t sound terribly appetizing.

Has anyone ordered A-5 Waygu online, shipped to your door, before? I have been looking into it, and now Zuckerberg's spycraft has picked up on it so I get A-5 Waygu ads on Facebook whenever I look there. Inevitably, my mouth starts watering and I get very tempted to spend a bunch of money on Waygu. Just wondering if the quality, ordering it online, is as good as it should be. I've had Waygu before, it is amazing, I just don't want to spend $500 on steaks and be disappointed.

Friend of mine is leaving soon and we're throwing a mini farewell for her, complete with appetizers and a couple desserts. I was thinking meatballs, but I am not sure...

Picked 19 pounds of strawberries this year. I thought that seemed like a lot, but one year I picked 25. THAT was too much.
