Did you dip them in mayo

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

Yeah, they just bring out a giant gallon sized mayo jar to share. I’m as shocked as you.

I am wondering how many times I will need to learn the lesson "do not do something else while pizza dough is on the grill". 4, 5, 873?

Despite many terrible mistakes, I still have not learned this lesson.

I am 55 years old.

Christina Tosi has a <a href="https://www.amazon.com/All-About-Cake-Christina-Tosi/dp/0451499522/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_cp_0_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=0451499522&pd_rd_r=47EQSBQ6ZCV3AFGFRE5R&pd_rd_w=tM64a&pd_rd_wg=jB2ZI&psc=1&refRID=47EQSBQ6ZCV3AFGFRE5R">Cake cookbook</a> coming out in October. I was so disappointed in her last one, I am trying to muster some excitement.

Also, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/0399579761/?coliid=I2ID9F3F8BIYCC&colid=27GE0T8HXR3IZ&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it">Sister Pie</a> has a cookbook coming out. Holding off on pre-order until I hear if the salted maple pie is in it.

Despite many terrible mistakes, I still have not learned this lesson.

I erred on the other side last night - not cooked enough. I think part of my issue is I tend to roll it too thin.

Tried peanut butter and banana together. Got a subtle hint of PB, but the banana was lost.

Tonight, will try peanut butter bits. If that doesn't work, I'll either chop a banana up or crush banana chips and put those in.

If either of those things don't work, will file under "nice idea, but didn't work."

Made a chicken tomato curry recipe I found on Bon Apetit. Used Alton Brown’s garam masala recipe.

The curry recipe was pretty good. Alton Brown’s recipe needs a little work though. Needed quite a bit less cardamom and more cumin. For my tastes. Little on the soapy side. And I could smell it immediately.

Never made an Indian style dish before. The house smells amazing.

I made an absolute disaster of a lasagna this afternoon. Too much alfredo sauce and didn't use ricotta cheese. This one might turn out to be a science project in the fridge.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

My lasanga recipe skips the bachemel and sticks to pressed ricotta, mozzarella or provolone, egg, and Parmesan. I’ve found it’s almost impossible to make a soupy lasagna with it.

Any saving yours?

I got to meet jet tilia, chef jet, at work last week. Our car does his pho noodles once a month at work and it’s prerty good pho. He was very nice.

I may be able to eat it one way or another.

I was making some flat bread on my grill the other day (I basically take some pizza dough, roll it a little thick, put some garlic olive oil on it and grill it, then cut into wedges and dip into olive oil). I forgot it for a minute and when I went out one side was completely black! I was so disappointed in myself.

You need a mushy banana to start the recipe and the right PB. I've yet to find that right PB, but I've tasted it elsewhere.

I tried private label.. I'll try Jif, then I'll try Skippy. I just don't want "natural" peanut butter, because oil separation is a thing.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

I get skippy natural super chunk. Never really had separation issues.

Best PB I’ve found on the market when you balance cost, flavor, availability, and quality. Then again, I haven’t done an exhaustive search lol.

I’ve just found all of the “artisan” PBs I’ve tried are crap. Like Justin’s. Might be the most overrated food item I’ve ever bought.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

And I think almond butter is crap. $10 a jar for pureed almonds?

Cashew butter... I used Alton Brown's recipe for it, and it's spectacular.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

I’m just indifferent on cashews. I avoid them in mixed nuts. I like pecans, peanuts, almonds. Sometimes walnuts and pistachios. Don’t like Brazil nuts.

I know, I’m insane.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Maybe We Can Beat Bobby Flay

I'm moderately allergic to many tree nuts - walnuts, pecans, pistachios - but especially cashews and Brazil nuts. Brazil nuts actually border on a serious allergy for me. And cashews unfortunately render me unable to eat quite a bit of Indian food.

Oddly though, almonds, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts are no problem.
