USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

We talked about doing a keeper league last fall, during drafting season, and decided we needed more time to plan it. So I'm going to bring it up again to see if anyone is interested. I think we cap it at 8 people, only 1 league, and only people that have played for a few years, and actually pay attention (Me, Shirtless Guy, FiveHole, etc.)

My plan would be to draft sometime shortly after the Frozen 4, with enough time to allow for that rush of early leavers to sign with pro teams. Only future sophomores, Juniors and Seniors would be elligable for drafting, and we would only draft 18 out of the standard 24 roster spots, with the requirement of 6 each of sophs, juniors and seniors. If someone you drafted leaves early, after the draft, too bad, that is the risk you take with high end players that may leave early. When the season is about to start we will have a 6 round rookie draft, then start the season. Once the season starts, you can make any roster moves you normally would be able to, but remember, you will only be able to draft 6 rookies the next year, so you may have to fill out your roster with lower-end players if you pile of on seniors. Trades would be encouraged, so if someone wants to trade promising freshmen for seniors to try to make a run, go for it.

Thoughts?

I just don't see the point.

Taking any applications from first year GMs?

I like it. It sounds pretty straight forward, and would be fun to watch some players grow up on your team.

I'm in. How about we do a June draft, or possibly just before next season's regular USCHO league drafts? Need some time to get the stats down, and it's tough to get my brain into it after the FF. Fishing season will be in full swing and there's plenty of prep work in April. ;)

There's no hurry. I just wanted to get the idea fresh in peoples minds, to see if there is any interest. We can continue to discuss over the next several months.

I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. Only points scored during the playoff week are used to determine advancement? It's not like Open Slot would have to beat me by 200+ points in order to advance, correct?

If that is the case, will those numbers eventually show up on the website, as right now I only see total points?

Thanks.

Correct. Only points scored during the playoff week determine advancement.
Playoff points do not show up on the website. We (I) do it manually and post the results here.

Thanks for answering.

So if my calculations are correct, heading into the weekend the scores are...

1 HP1015sPigeons, 9 points vs 8 SomethingBrewing, 6 points
2 FightingSioux23, 25 points vs 7 OpenSlot, 7 points
3 FiveHole, 12 points vs 6 ShirtlessGuy, 4 points
4 bigbluedl, 4 points vs 5 MadisonsMightiestHeroes, 28 points

Well, I would be all for it, but apparently I don't meet your criteria for number of years playing.

I haven't checked your numbers, but I believe you have that right.
As of Sunday morning it looks like the higher seeds will advance. There's a close race between the #2 and #7 seeds though.
#2 HP Pigeons is at 12 points, #7 OpenSlot at 11.

I think bigblue would make an exception to the league in your case. Your diligence out weighs your years playing. ;)

Except HP Pigeons aren't the #2 seed?

Three questions: How will the snipes work? (Do we call them on here?) and Will the players from the teams who were knocked out all be dropped to free agency? And if they are dropped, would those free agents, aside from the snipes, then become free range for the remaining GMs?

You post here to the GM of the team you defeated what 2 players you want. He will release just those 2 players and they are available only to you. The remaining players on the roster are not released and are not available in the free agent pool. See Post #60 in this thread for the playoff rules.

If the team you are sniping players from does not respond, post here and Zudnic will release them.

P.S. to all: One rule that was not listed. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances.

Shirtless Guy… I'll snipe from your roster:

Thank you.
