What a route to the finals, can't play Russia Sweden or Canada until the gold medal game.

Don't think so. NBC already had it that Canada has to win the "play-in" game, then Russia. I like your idea in case of upsets.
Still, don't consider the road easy. I'm sure the Swiss (I am assuming higher seeds to advance) will be formidable, and the Finn/Czech winner won't be a walk. Then Sweden/Russia/Canada for Gold.
I'd like to see the team at least medal, and no modern Gold medal winner has been undefeated. Tall task.

Wow. The Canadians will play the Commies in the next round after they slaughter Deutchland? I can't imagine what will happen to Canada if they lose that one. The whole country will implode. Hopefully the UW recruits will get out of the country before than happens.

*Nice win! How much time did UW's Rafalski & Suter log? Holy ****, it seemed like they were out there for 50 minutes. Bobby Ryan? This guy is a stud; too bad he never played NCAA. He would be even better!
*One of the most enjoyable parts of the broadcast? We didn't have to listen to Pierre McQuire's drivel. I saw him between the benches...he must have been with CBC where he should stay. Could you imagine hearing him doing a USA-Canada game on US TV? Oy vey.
