Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Some people had to work so I didn't get to watch, but I see that Pavelski assisted the Kessel goal. Boy it would have been nice had that combination got to play together for 2+ years.

I don't think the Gophers ever recruited Pavs. :p

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Oh my, did the pressure on Sid & Co. just go up tenfold.

They certainly took it to us for the first 25 minutes or so and then it turned into a good game back and forth until 4 minutes to go.

Great play by Kessler. Don't I remember a Gopher player doing something similar? Johnny Pohl maybe in the Final 5?

USA! USA! USA!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

My only wish is that it was an elimination game... Canada with Luongo will be tough to beat

Great win!!!

I think Wheeler did in OT to win the FF - but with a goalie in net. ;)

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Best day of the competition by far, the past 3 gold medal games with rematches. Canada was on fire and had all the momentum for the last 10 minutes. Miller was cluth, and huge play by Kesler with the dive for the ENG. Pure hustle. US now with the #1 or #2 overall seed now pending the Finland/Sweden game. I think I worked it out, Canada should be #6 and think they play #11 Germany.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Unfortunately, Miller & co. aren't getting any credit from most Canadian fans. They are moaning about:

1. The poor officiating

2. Babcock's coaching decisions

3. Brodeur sucks

I guess the NBC tools were right when they said that Canada regards hockey wins as an entitlement. Not tonight. :p

That is correct, and if they beat Germany they get Russia.

I don't get MSNBC at work and I didn't feel like downloading whatever I had to download to watch it on NBC's website, so I was watching the Canadian broadcast on channelsurfing. It was hilarious. They kept referring to Canada as "superior", US as "inferior", gave the US very little credit, constantly criticized Canada for not playing their game and kept talking about how Canadians expected them to just steamroll the Americans. They just got progressively more negative and morose as the game went on. I thought they were gonna hang themselves with their headset cords.

I guess they forgot the part where they are all NHLers too.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

This is what I came up with so far, still some shuffling can happen pending the midnight game, especially if that goes to overtime. But as of now these should be locks.

12 Latvia
8 Switzerland vs 9 Belarus
7 Slovakia vs 10 Norway
6 Canada vs 11 Germany

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Michigan) 42 Saves
Brian Rafalski (Dearborn, Michigan) 2 Goals, 1 Assist
Ryan Kesler (Livonia, Michigan) 1 Goal

The State of Michigan has beaten Canada at their own game. I love this state!!

You do have to wonder if that's how a certain game in Lake Placid was broadcasted back home to the Soviets 30 years ago. :D

The Ghost of Herb Brooks haunts Vancouver!!!
