Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

****. Ryan Miller named tournament MVP. Well deserved.

And I don't care who played where, I wanted the USA to win today. Bad.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

I can't say I would have been upset if you had told me before the tournament the US would be in OT of the Gold Medal game. What stings so much was their inability to take advantage of a shaky Luongo once they were there.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

The loss stings. Miller made some great saves today. He def. deserves that MVP.

I just wish that goal would have been scored by anyone else on the Canadian team. I HATE HATE HATE Sidney Crosby. Ever since he started complaining about how Ovie was doing better than him.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Congrats to the Canadians on the win. Congrats to USA on an awesome tournament.

Hopefully hockey will receive a little "bounce" out of this.

Yeah, I think it will give them a bounce.....team USA played their hearts out and we should all be proud of them.

Damm those squirls are fast eh dirty:)

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Unfortunately, the bounce will be minimal. Americans aren't into silver medals or moral victories, and the US loss today will soon be forgotten stateside as people get back to post Olympic life. Both hockey teams played well, but at the end of the day, Canada wins and we lose, once again- just like Salt Lake.

The only growth sports coming out of these games are snowboard and curling.

I'll take whatever kind of bounce we can get. Minimal or not. Baby steps...:D

Sadly you may be right...just look at this thread, its pretty much dead as the majority of the posters here want to forget and move on from this loss.

The majority of posters are over in the Olympic thread in the Cafe.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

great tourny by every team!!! Hockey doesnt get any better than that!!!!

My three stars are---

#3 Zach Parise-- never gave up, played every shift as hard as he could!!! That is why he is the best USA born player today!!!

# 2 Ryan Miller pretty much withstood everything thrown at him--- outplayed all the other great goalies 10 fold!!!!

#1 Jonathon Toews-- he never seems to amaze me!!! had ( ithink) +8 rating, only on ice for one goals against (parise's game tying goal) had 1g 7a and doing that against everyteams top line... :) :) :)

anyway what a great showing of our beloved sport !!!!
now on to the wcha playoffs and final 5 and ncaa---- then a little thing they call LORD STANLEYS CUP!!!!

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Whats a matter little dirty....did those iddy biddy nasty squirrels give you a nasty bite???:D

Not at all, but you really should give up this charade that you aren't a Canuck. No one cares, so you can stop pretending you wouldn't deepthroat Sidney Crosby whenever possible.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

It seemed to me Canada pretty much controled the puck along the boards. It seemed USA was reluctant to send the extra manpower to take control of the puck no doubt being respectful of how quickly Canada can transition and get the puck up ice and not wanting to allow the odd man rush.

I'm not so sure, I think there are winners & losers coming out of the Olympic Hockey...

Winners:

The NHL - Their stars were seen by a whole new audience and you have to think that there will be a little bounce in attendance Stateside out of all of this.

USA Hockey - Their development model clearly worked and will keep the critics at bay for another four years.

College Hockey
- The major junior alums didn't look any better than their college hockey brethren.

Canada - They won the Gold, but they sure didn't look invincible.

CBC & MSNBC & NBC - Record audiences for hockey. Now if they could just figure out how to get people to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Losers:

European Hockey a.k.a. "Eurotrash" - The KHL, Finns, Russians and a host of other nations and players looked old, out of step and badly outplayed thorughout the Tourney.

Gary Bettman - He may be playing poker with the NHLPA but he sure looks like an idiot any time he opens his mouth

When Milbury said the russians brought their eurotrash game after they lost to canada i almost fell out of my chair laughing. It was so true. They were terrified of the canadians.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Despite the disappointment of losing to the Canadians, Im proud of how team USA played.
They gave Canada all they could handle, despite the fact that no one gave them any respect or any chance to win.
Im proud of how Miller played. He was amazing and the fact that he was named MVP despite allowing the goal that cost them the gold medal is very impressive.
Bottom line, Im proud of how our team played. If they had gotten 1 or 2 more lucky breaks, it would have been team USA with the gold medals hanging around their necks as the Star Spangled Banner echoed throughout Canada Hockey Place.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

The two things I took away from the series is that the players are still millionaires and Jeremy Roenick is a blithering crybaby. Seriously it was a great final and well played, too bad Crosby had to score the goal.

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Kind of Ironic that two thirds of the Goals scored by Canada in the Gold Medal game were scored by players that played High School Hockey in Minnesota.:D
