Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II
I have been consistently disappointed in the amount of support the men's hockey world gives to the women's game. I compare it to basketball and want to cry. David Stern and the NBA clearly made the WNBA a priority in getting it going and in staying alive. Tom Izzo at Michigan State makes a point to include the women's team as a part of their Midnight Madness and he and other coaches help to promote women's basketball. I just don't see anything comparable in hockey.
The NHL is currently negotiating with the IOC about NHL participation in future Olympics. Does anyone have any info on whether the NHL will use its leverage to protect the women's side from the possible Olympic chopping block? It seems that its something the NHL could/should do for the good of hockey in general but I have my doubts whether it would be that farsighted or philanthropic.
