US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

IMPRESSIVE! As a supporter of the Canadian team I have to say that the U.S. team tonight was head and shoulders better than us. If it had not been for the heroics of Shannon Szabados in net, this could have been an 8-1 or 9-1 embarrassment. Hopefully, the new coaching staff, whomever they might be, can turn things around in a short period of time.

5-1.

Bozek SH and I think empty net at 19:58 of the third.

SOG 29-16 USA.

Yes, it was an empty netter...she shot it from up against the boards to Vetter's right around the face off circle. Nothing but net...a "swisher" as we used to call it.

Earlier by Hux, "And this is a thread about the US squad. Frankly I don't care a rat's patoot about who did what to whom in Red & Black. Feel free to start your own thread, or dig up the Olympic thread that was started a while back."

I know what the reason was: Mind games = player revolt.

Wrong thread Hux, isn't this only about US hockey...;)

Can't wait for the game vs Canada at the Ralph on Friday night! Also it's being broadcast nationally on NBC Sports and that hopefully will bring some great exposure to the team. Canada regularly gets their games on TSN, so it's about time the U.S. team isn't relegated to some obscure satellite channel.

Reposting here...
Amanda Kessel wins as The Kia Most Dynamic Athlete of 2013, nudging out Colin Kaepernick. http://admeter.usatoday.com/ad-meter/category/3670781/

In the parent story (http://admeter.usatoday.com/story/sports/ad-meter/year-in-sports/2013/12/18/ad-meter-story-year-in-sports-winners-revealed/4078407/):
The upset of Year in Sports came in the closest overall vote. The University of Minnesota forward, and brother of the Toronto Maple Leafs' Phil, won with a late push. Kessel won the honor despite 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (our runner-up) pushing his candidacy via Facebook. This was a shocker.

Although I hate the Gophers, this Kia award is good publicity for w hockey

It's a lot easier to like MLam when she is on your team, beauty of a goal. Duggan on the Lam line? If anyone is a good enough player to get the twins to share Duggan is the one.

Looks to me like a try out game for those players on the bubble. No Bozek, Kessel out injured, those are two players most of us expect to be on the final roster. Pankowski taking Kessel's spot on the line with Coyne and Decker, that looks like an audition. Both Pucci and Stecklein taking shifts on D, probably one or the other on the final roster.

Looks like a decent crowd in Grand Forks. But of course you have to keep that in perspective. If the game was in Winnipeg there wouldn't be any empty seats.

On the Canadian broadcast there are lot of comments about which players are on the Bubble. Poulin and Wick not dressed.

No, it's not.

Not even when she has a huge role in helping your team win? At this level, physicality is an integral part of the game. Those who shy away from it tend not to be very effective. You just have to learn when to pick your spots, which I thought both Lam sisters did very well tonight.
