I mean, if we're rolling the clock back on imperialim expansion, let's have Saint Petersburg rejoin the Swedish empire (or at least under modern day Finnish control).

Nevanlinna or Nothing!

They are starting to fear how bad they look and need distractions. They are gonna Wag the Dog this to the edge of WWIII if it keeps going down this track...

Oh the Putin Fellators are having fun with Biden hinting at regime change in Russia...even though his statement was clarified like a few minutes later.

Here is the clarification: https://twitter.com/kaitlancollins/s...86420823506949

Of course her parent network spread the misinformation in a piece so...

It was a stupid thing to say, it may be the truth but the President shouldn't be saying it out loud

Careful how far you go with that, since the entire history of the US since 1789 is based on imperialist expansion and the tired, worn out idea of 'manifest destiny'. Should we give it all back to what's left of the Native tribes and sail for Europe?

I honestly don't think it was because someone needs to say it at this point. The whole friggin world is so afraid of making this crackpot mad they have basically given him carte blanche since he took power. (oh those sanctions and threats through the years really showed him huh!) Someone needs to be a leader and say what needs to be said. Note he didn't advocate for NATO to change the regime, he is talking to the people in the region who are being put under his thumb.

Look you don't stop a bully by tiptoeing around him...you stop him by getting in his face and forcing him to blink. That is what The Ukraine is showing every day and it is time that we (and by that I mean the rest of the world) stop pretending wearing pins and changing our Facebook profile picture to a Ukrainian Flag is enough. We can't fight their war but we can sure as hell tell them how to fix the problem. Putin is the problem, and as long as he controls Mother Russia he will always be the problem. The Russians (and the Chechnyans and the Ukrainians...etc.) are the ones that need to put an end to his reign once and for all and honestly I am glad Biden said it and hate the clarification after the fact.

We have already taken every half measure we can (for fucks sake we are talking about a limited No Fly Zone which is like being a little pregnant) along with the harshest sanctions possible. Time for The West to start telling it like it is.

So, uh, what should we be doing? Other than supplying as much arms as possible... which has had to change gears every time we learn what Ukraine is capable of- which is really a good thing. We are supplying the right stuff to bleed the ruskies pretty hard- like the switchblade anti armor drone. And more anti-tank weapons than the ruskies have vehicles.

The first time an American plane shoots down a ruskie one, I'm not all that confident that we don't end the world.

I'm curious why they don't want Alaska back. There's still a lot of gold and oil there. Seems more valuable than Moldova....

If they even hint at Alaska then they risk the West going full tilt. You don't threaten the US...even his few remaining allies would flee. No one wants WWIII especially the crackpots like Putin who fear popular uprising in their lands. Russia would be an outcast even China would stay neutral at best.

Maybe if any country thought Russia could actually fight a real war they might have some support, but they can't even fucking invade The Ukraine correctly. Can you imagine how bad it would be if he made a move against an actual NATO country let alone the US? Even the Right Wing would turn against him because no GOPer, even the most corrupt, would be caught dead cheering for a country that attacks us or even threatens too. I would say the chances are 50/50 he gets hung in Red Square Mussolini style. Even Hitler wasn't that stupid. (well not at first anyways ;^) )

We should be advocating for them to overthrow Putin. (which is what everyone accused Biden of doing) Re-read my post that is all I am advocating for. I literally say "we can't fight their war for them" but this idea that we can't say anything that will upset Putin is so fucking wishy washy I can't stand it. He isn't going to start a war because Biden said it is time for the people to get him out...he will start a war because he can't get it up anymore and needs to show he is still a man. That will happen even if Biden drops to his knees and blows him like Trump did.

I will never support us fighting there unless they make a move against us. NATO needs to do exactly what they are doing but it is time to stop worrying about upsetting Putin's flaccid ego.

"Biden's words were unpresidential!" shriek the supporters of TFG whose fragile ego literally trashed and continues to find ways to trash the standards of the American presidency on a near-daily basis.

Putin is not going anywhere though, and frankly a power vacuum in Moscow would probably not be a good thing for anyone at the moment. The impression I get is that the political vibe in Russia today is like Germany in 1939. They are convinced of their own righteousness and authority to lead all Slavic peoples in the battle against the evils of the west. The cancer of fascism has metastasized throughout a majority of the population and the only way to fix it would be to break up Russia and put them in timeout for 40 years while we completely restructure the country from the ground up, changing the way the population thinks and acts through years of military-enforced oversight of education and media reforms. See these atrocities your country committed? Do we need to rub your nose in that until you get physically ill at the thought of ever again invading another country and systemically murdering its population? Germans today can hardly even sing the remaining approved verses of their national anthem.

We should be advocating for them to overthrow Putin.

And how do you do that? If you do it too much in the open, vlad knows there's a game afoot, and he'll murder everyone close to him- which is very soviet. Can't exactly help put him down, so to speak.

It sounds so good that we push for regime change, but that also plays right into vladdy's game plan, that the west is against him and mother russia.

So how do we go about doing that in a manner that is actually effective?

Xi got the memo.

China's state-run Sinopec Group has suspended talks for a major petrochemical investment and a gas marketing venture in Russia, sources told Reuters, heeding a government call for caution as sanctions mount over the invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian trolling:

"Quit smoking or you will miss Putin's death."

We should be advocating for them to overthrow Putin.

So then Vladdy sees he has nothing left to lose and launches the nukes.

Yeah, good plan.

We can do everything we can behind the scenes and strategically to ensure Putin is weakened, vulnerable, and so maybe they do take him out. But we can't be openly advocating for that as a course of action, or as a requirement for Russia to meet.

Handy
Biden words threw diplomacy out the window. I will admit that its possible diplomacy was already gone but their is no doubt now.
