Good to hear. I'm guessing someone politely explained to them that they aren't going to be moving many ferarris or diamonds to russia anytime soon. And that Russia's stock market is down 50%. THe market, not a stock.

I think the Swiss will put up a fight but honestly, I think the world should cut off the Swiss if they don't play ball. Like, this is all we have short of all out war. We need to make that exceedingly clear to all of our allies. And that the label of "ally" is easily modified.
 
It will hurt Russia if the Swiss cut them off.

I had to look this up but it looks like Ukraine joined NATO's enhanced opportunity partner interoperability program a couple years ago. I have no idea what that program is but...

Being on the same level as you are when it comes to knowledge of foreign affairs, we can venture to guess together it means they’re not officially apart of NATO.

Russia is going to take over Ukraine. I’m certain Biden has known that from the outset. He’s not willing to risk nuclear war with Russia over a country that we’re not sworn to protect. You can agree or disagree. Of course sanctions don’t work as well at stopping an army as an army would. Russia tries Latvia, or another NATO country, and yeah, we’ll have war. At least, that’s what Biden is saying. He’s laid it out there.

Edit: The sanctions are meant to slow his progress once Ukraine is won for Putin. Hopefully, Ukrainian resistance, coupled with actually occupying a country, makes it a lot harder for Russia than invading in the first place.

Right but I wonder what the affiliation actually means. I would think NATO would treat this differently compared to a random rogue nation that wants nothing to do with NATO.

  • NATO partners contribute to NATO-led operations and missions, as well as exercises, often significantly.
  • Partner forces need to be interoperable – able to operate together with NATO forces according to NATO standards, rules, procedures and using similar equipment.
  • At the 2014 Wales Summit, NATO launched the Partnership Interoperability Initiative (PII) to maintain and deepen the interoperability that has been developed with partners during NATO-led operations and missions over the last decades.
  • The PII underlined the importance of interoperability for all its partnerships and proposed new means to deepen cooperation with those partners that wished to be more interoperable with NATO.
  • As a result of the PII, NATO granted tailor-made “enhanced opportunities” for deeper cooperation with six partners: Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan, Sweden and Ukraine.
  • The PII also launched the “Interoperability Platform” (IP) to provide a wider group of partners with deeper access to cooperation on interoperability issues – currently 23 selected partners, who are interested and committed to deepening interoperability for future crises, participate in meetings of a number of NATO committees and bodies held in the IP format.

Also it's scary how many American's can't grasp the severity here. These aren't 3rd world participants that have been in turmoil for most of modern history. These are major players in every sense.

Well if the Right was in charge they would be applauding as he walked in so how about you just cool it.

We can't go in, not unless Putin gets real dumb and attacks a Western Ally. Americans won't support a war unless they think they are at risk so Ukraine isn't going to move the needle.

Unconfirmed reports the worldâ??s only AN-225 has been destroyed following hostilities at Hostomel airport. The aircraft was situated at the airport at the time of the attack. There are other Antonov aircraft also located there.

UPDATE REGARDING AN-225: As per a captain for Antonov Airlines publishing updates on Facebook, the AN-225 is not damaged and is intact, according to him. In saying that, Russian forces have taken the airport the aircraft is located at. Of course, we await to hear more.
