University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Nice road sweep of a supposedly good Badger team this weekend.

Next weekend: the student becomes the master as Dave Hakstol's Sioux take on Dean Blais' Mavericks, in Omaha.

Very pleased with the sweep. Our defense actually played up to what I thought they would be to start the season. Hopefully we can get that same effort next weekend...as we'll need it. The scores could have been much more lopsided in favor of the Sioux if Wisconsin didn't get such a solid performance from their goalie. Saying that, I thought Dell played well. He had a ton of help from his D-corps though.

I have been waiting for an effort like that for two games all season and I'm sure I am not the only one.....killing me tonight not being able to watch this game. Glad this came right before the Omaha series and here's to hoping they carry this momentum over to next weekend. Hope to see a ton of green and black there next weekend as I have a crew of five making the trip for the games!:)

I'll take 4 points in Madison any time! :)

Big series early in the WCHA season!

It seems weird to say it but it is going to be pretty cool to be playing Omaha next weekend!

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Christmas came early.;) ...besides everyone knows EJ is the star on that team and STL will be just fine without TJ Fatty.

Kristy - 1 goal in 10 games....remember when all you susie fans took shots at Jordan Schroeder this time last year for his slow start?....karama.... By your logic Hak must not be able to develop players very well!

Kristy will never come close to the level of success Jordan will have in the NHL.
They let you out of the ward?

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

OK, how many of us had predicted that Corban Knight would be leading this team in scoring?

Also, I liked how the boyz adapted last night. We stopped going for the big hit, we bumped but didn't nail guys, and we let UW take the dumb penalties. Very nice to see.

Things are starting to come together ...

This weekend against UNO is going to be really interesting. UNO is playing really well. They are doing better than most people thought they would.

Apparently UNO has the biggest team in college hockey. A few weeks back on the radio they asked Blais about this. All he said was that wasn't really by design. I wonder if he had his fingers crossed when he made that remark.

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Hopefully the new rankings or something close to it: 1. UMD 2. Miami 3. Maine 4. BU 5. Yale 6. UND 7. UNO 8. UNH 9. BC 10. Michigan

Anyone else think that UND should ask Ed Belfour for some leverage to try and get the rights to the North Star name for UND's new nickname?

thoughts on this please....

Why? North Dakota only.

Prozac would really help you... You also seem to be suffering from delusions of grandeur...

Nice weekend vs. Wisconsin.

In post game comments Wisconsin coach Eaves their players had positive things to say about North Dakota hockey.

http://www.uwbadgers.com/sports/m-hockey/recaps/111410aaa.html

COACH EAVES

On North Dakota’s experience: “They got to time and space better than we did. That was one of the things we were coaching on the bench. We spent too much time gliding rather than striding and getting there. Their back pressure was really good, and great teams do that nowadays. I look at their team, and in many ways, that was us last year. An older, veteran, experienced team that had repetitions of the type of things that are going to help them be successful.”

On being surprised by lack of shots throughout the game:
“Yeah, I thought we could create more going into the weekend, but seeing the way North Dakota back pressured, where they didn’t give us anything from the rush, and how well they fronted the puck in their own zone. They blocked a lot of shots. It reminded me of the championship game against BC (Boston College).”

Michael Mersch

On comparing this weekend to previous weekends:
“North Dakota’s a big strong team. But pinch down the walls, and I think their physicality got the better of us. And we need to learn from it and move on.”
