Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

We got some major issues. That third period was brutal. Too many icing calls resulting in chances in our own end..;. hangin on...

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Points are good, will absolutely take them. Need to work on that 3rd.

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

well, a tough weekend but a split is ok. The hit last night by Pony is tough to decide. I don't think he had intent to injure and to me it looks clean. Of course that makes me hypocritical since I want Aaron Marvin's head on a spit.

Duluth will be a tough test

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Didn't see the hit so have no idea if it was clean or not, but there's no doubt that NoDak has a reputation for very hard hitting that can tend to cause injury. In HE, Merrimack & Maine are teams that you thank your lucky stars for when you get out of a game without any serious injury. BC wasn't so lucky this weekend when MC took out our best defenseman with a dirty hit to the knees that has him out for 3-6 weeks. Maine took him out with a similar hit just last year. One would think that the league would get tough on cheap shot teams like Merrimack and Maine, but it hasn't happened yet. Merrimack may still have bad feelings toward BC after that terrible collision between their goalie Joe Exter and Pat Eaves a few years back but don't know what Maine's problem is but they have seriously injured many of our players over the years with dirty hits. Sorry to go on like this and not saying NoDak is dirty, in fact, my guess is they're more just big and mean :D

Mike Chambers reports Jesse Martin in Minneapolis for emergency surgery with 3 fractures in his neck.

Thoughts and prayers for Jesse, his family and the DU hockey community

This is terrible news and it's the reason why I'm always skeptical of initial reports on players' conditions after an injury. I can only hope that the outcome for Jesse Martin is as positive as it was for Robbie Bina.

Here are my thoughts on what should come from this. I'm not very hopeful because we've been down this road before and little has changed.

Are you drunk?

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

I've been watching BC hockey long enough to know which teams are dirty and Maine is right near the top. Perhaps the dirtiest hit ever in college hockey was when Prestin Ryan drilled Tony Voce into the boards about 10 seconds after he scored a goal. Ryan probably has another 2 or 3 hits that are on the all time NCAA top 10 dirtiest hit list. I remember another incident a few years back where a BC player got his neck broken by a stick that a Maine guy "accidentally" clotheslined him with. Beattie's hit on Cross' knees last year was as bad as it gets and there are many, many more that I can't recall off the top of my head. Don't worry though, you're not as bad as the Mack.

So in other words, yes. You are drunk.

Or you remember PEaves' injury, but not those he dished out. Or BC giving Barnes a concussion. Or maybe you think that Voce was just misunderstood - he just really liked his stick, so of course he used it all the time. Or that Brooks Orpik never dished out any questionable hits. And that time when a guy took a stick to the face? I guess you weren't thinking of the time when Leveille skated past a BC defender, who spun around with one hand on his stick, allowing it to helicopter around and get the Maine player in the head? Cause it kind of sounded like that was the episode you were talking about. Stupid Levs for smashing his face into the BC guy's stick.

At least we know it isn't cheap beer. To get a memory like that takes a good 126-proof Islay single malt. If you'd stop mixing it with fanboy KoolAid for a moment, you'll realize that all sorts of crap goes on in the game. And your beloved Eagles are no more innocent than any others.

As a BC fan, ignore comments about Maine - Prestin Ryan was a great tough player who did cross the line, but he also graduated in 2004. Patrick Eaves' neck was a total accident. Very odd to find someone claiming Maine is dirty in a North Dakota thread particularly after their series.

Carlton got under some UND fans' skin in comments in threads leading up to the UND-Maine series. I take it this is his way of getting back in their good graces. For what reason, I don't know.

I've got nothing against BC, and I would never deny that Prestin Ryan crossed the line on a few occasions - including games against BC. But CB was so over-the-top that I didn't feel like taking the high road and letting it go. :o
