Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

How in the hell does the WCHA favorite to win all three trophies end up tying UAA and choking away a 4 goal lead?

because clearly this will mean the Sioux are going to tank the rest of the way

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

yeah, it's not like the sioux have used the gophers to slingshot into the postseason in years past...

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

I said "theoretically." ;)

Fine, I'll give you that one. ;) :)

Yep, Sioux don't win a game the rest of the way. It's unfortunate as a Sioux fan, but true. You heard it here first.

Fighting Sioux hockey: {sigh}

I'm just saying that if UND doesn't come out with a(n even bigger) chip on their shoulder tonight, that's not a good sign.

And that'd be fine with me.

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

Much better effort tonight against a ranked opponent.
UAF never got any momentum at all aside from their 5x3 PP at the beginning of the 3rd.

Forbort, 3 assists, very impressive.
Time to take down Bemidji and spoil their party!

It was a good effort, and a necessary win after last night's meltdown. Now it's 4 points to welcome Bemidji to the WCHA.

Nice to see the team shore up defensively. Were it not for the 5 minute major, I think we would have had a good chance to get the shutout. Dell played well. Perhaps he should always get the start up in Alaska?

While 1-0-1 was not what I was hoping for, it is a respectable result for any team going up to Alaska. The win against Alaska will be nice come PWR time. The tie against Anchorage we'll at least be able to redeem ourselves later in the year.

Bemidji will be another animal next weekend.

way to sum it up. A relatively successful weekend. Now shake it off and get ready for the next opponent. Bring 'em on! :)

No doubt on Dell! That makes him 2-0 in games in Alaska, with only 1 GA. Note to Hakstol, start Aaron in Alaska...

I wonder how much rust BSU might show in the 1st game? They haven't even played an exhibition yet...

Banner raising is Oct 29th against Denver. Tickets will be hard to come by for that huge event.

Forbort = stud
We've gotten lucky the last two seasons by having some very talented freshmen dmen that appear to be WCHA-ready for the drop of the 1st puck.
MacWilliam last year, Forbort this year.

Nothing like raising a banner when Gwoz comes to town.

Yup, Forbort is something special, a scary good kind of special.

Re: University of North Dakota, version 2.0

As far as the Bemidji series is concerned, they are going to come out absolutely flying on Friday. It will be a very important date for that school/program, and I don't think we'll see any "rust" in the first ten minutes. I'm fully expecting a tornado from the Beavers the first half of the first period. If the Sioux can handle that on Friday they'll stand a very good chance at winning. If they don't, and Bemidji puts one or two in, it will just feed the fire and it could be a rough game for the Sioux. So in other words, I think Friday's game will be decided by 3+ goals.

Saturday I think we'll see a more typical Sioux-Beavers game, something decided by a goal or so and a nailbiter. Saying that, I think we have enough firepower and solid defense to win this type of game.

It will be a very good weekend of hockey for certain, and I'm hopeful for 4 points.

.

And there is something else: the lesson learned early on that you have to bust your arse to win, no matter who the opponent or how much talent you have on the ice.
