University of North Dakota... the March past March

Re: University of North Dakota... the March past March

two follow up questions for this guy that you need to ask.
  1. What if I stab Henke with a filed down plastic spoon? Would I be allowed re-entry after the police question me and then give me a medal for doing so?
  2. Does he really actually work there? Or is he like Milton from Office Space?

I think stabbing him with a letter opener would be much better. But yes, I'm pretty sure the entire staff of the Xcel Energy Center would give you a medal for that.

And yeah, he actually works there. You think GLM could have weaseled his way onto a zam ride?

Hey, does anyone here know the background on why Cary Eades stick in this photo says "BIRD" above his number?

Eades used to coach my brother in youth hockey(1980s), and I believe his nickname was "Birdy"(or "Bird").

Don't read down. His nickname was DRIB

If you stare at these old photos too long, the little things start to drive you crazy - like why there's a condom on Gino's whistle.

The NCAA President and other officials will be visiting Bismarck to discuss the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo issue. There is some speculation among state leaders that the NCAA may be ready to soften their stance on the issue!

I would like to think that the state making it law would show the NC$$ that the nickname is very important to the residents, alumni, and students, and especially athletes. But I'm not optomistic that the NC$$ will change their stance. I see another legal battle.

if the state can keep it tied up in court, does that mean that the logo can't be changed?

Good question. My guess is that the NC$$ will stick to the original settlement terms, and impose the sanctions in that agreement. That puts the ball in the state's court. Will they sue?

Probably no such luck. But keeping it tied up has worked for the last 4-5 years.

I really don't want to see this drag on for several more years.

I really doubt they are softening their stance. I'll bet they are coming to B!+ch slap the state government and prove how powerful they are.

maybe we should prove how powerful our pitchforks, torches, fists, and AK-47's are...

I certainly don't want to get overly optomistic either. The only reason I think the NCAA might be reconsidering is that Brand is gone, and the leadership has largely turned over. The new leadership may be of the opinion that their time is spent on better things than fighting with a state over a nickname/logo.

They(NC$$) also got their hands full with bigger issues(multiple cheating scandals).

Re: University of North Dakota... the March past March

Here's a good article for fans of the state of North Dakota.

I can just hear the snarky comment formulating in your head right about now -- something about North Dakota's rough winters, and comparative lack of high-brow culture or pro sports teams, no doubt. Duly noted. But if we keep the conversation to economics and fiscal policy, North Dakota has plenty to admire.
