Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

CC never had the arrogant fans, the ones who said over and over and over "the only pole that matters is the one that you raise your National Championship banner on", while dismissing all other signs of a good team.

yeah like the arrogant fans that said "the only pole that matters is the one you raise your two National Championships banners on this decade"? those arrogant fans dumb dumb?

since no one on the gaypher offseason thread has answered my question i will pose it to you: has anyone lofquit, decommit, or schroedered it this week?

you clearly miss the point that I am quoting and mocking UND fans. I realize you are just a little kid, but if you don't understand the history of college hockey, then you should just go back to playing video games.

and, I would rather have a player schroeder it, than, say finley it. At least a NHL team wants one of these players really bad, and is willing to pay him rookie max to get him early.

Are you saying you know something about the college hockey video game?

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

and to think, absolutely none of that matters, because you didn't raise the only pole that mattered, the one with a National Championship banner on it.

My expectations are different than most. A generally successful decade with a legitimate chance for a title most of the time while ending the Gophers season 3 of the last 6 years has been just as gratifying to me as would a National Championship and a bunch of crappy years. What BC has done this past decade is quite remarkable considering the parity we are seeing in college hockey.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Why does it matter? lol

Ads rotate on lots of websites. I would venture to guess that Dick's Sporting Goods targeted this site for their lacrosse gear because many hockey fans/players/etc play/like lacrosse also as there are comparisons.

Anyways, back to hockey! :D

My bad, I thought ESPN2 had taken over the ad rights to this website...

...anyone? :D

you make me sick when you speak morris. i knew exactly what you were saying and in turn i was mocking you dummy. all of your "at least we won 2 in the last ten years" are the cries of a desperate fan.

you would rather have a player quit halfway through his sophomore year and coast to the end so that he could get away from a diseased program before he contracts whatever loser virus the rest of the team has? finley was drafted too, whatever he did after he left UND is up to him. i guarantee schroeder won't be coming back to visit the goofs anytime soon unless he is wearing a bio-hazard suit.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Happy has selective memory.

First, the difference between Schroeder's contract and Finley's contract is that the names and positions and teams are different.

They both, unless I'm greatly mistaken, got rookie max.

Second, he also forgot that Finley was courted by Washington after his junior year to sign early. They even invited him to watch a game in Hershey.

He said it was nice and came back for his senior year.

The difference, then, is that Schroeder decided to go pro early and Finley came back.

That's the only difference.

And to be truthful, I expect Schroeder to make the NHL long before Finley but Finley WILL make it.

Unless finley invests heavily in a speed and puckhandling program he will never make it, Schroeder will definitely make the big show thanks to everything he learned before his 1.5 years at UM.

Don't forget his stints on the WJC. He always played very well on the Intl stage during the WJC, and I was happy to cheer for him during that time. :)

From Schlossman's twitter:

NTDP prospect Rocco Grimaldi has narrowed his college choices to UND, Denver and Notre Dame. He says he won't decide before July.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

INCH has the Sioux ranked #1 in their Top 10 Teams for 2011 List:

http://insidecollegehockey.com/inch/2010/05/05/inch-10-for-11-the-teams/

Kind of surprising. I thought both Miami and BC would be above them.
I think that either way the Sioux will be a title contender...but if Genoway comes back they will be one of the title favorites.

1. NORTH DAKOTA
2009-10 Record: 25-13-5
Key Returnees: F Jason Gregoire, F Danny Kristo, G Brad Eidsness, D Ben Blood, F Evan Trupp, F Brett Hextall, F Brad Malone, D Derrick LaPoint
Key Losses: F Chris VandeVelde, F Darcy Zajac

Notice above that North Dakota loses only two integral players from its 2009-10 roster. Also notice that we didn’t include All-American level defenseman Chay Genoway on the Key Returnees list, who is eligible for a medical hardship waiver. The overriding theme is that North Dakota has the potential to be loaded for a huge season. Adding an elite recruiting class to an experienced and talented roster sets up well for a national championship run.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

I think the hockey gods are catching up to me. Tooth knocked out last year, and now a puck in the mouth causing 5 stitches in my upper lip from a game played on Sunday in Bemidji. We lost 9-6 in the championship, not too bad for 9 guys playing against a bunch of ex-DI players.:)

I think UND, BC, and Miami will the elite next year. Regarding preseason rankings, they are pretty useless this early in the offseason. BC was ranked # 16 in the INCH preseason last year and Wisconsin was # 13.

Pretty good odds BC and North Dakota could dance once again in St. Paul next April. :)

You don't think the gayphers will be "elite" next year? :(
