University of North Dakota-2015-2016-Seaason

Re: University of North Dakota-2015-2016-Seaason

For being not very good, they sure as hell had North Dakota on the ropes till that soft goal broke the 2-2 tie with about 8:00 remaining in the 3rd period. If the Big Ten was even half as bad as you haters want to believe it is, the Wolverines would have been down three goals after one period. Even in a losing effort they proved they are more than worthy, but of course you people are too stubborn to admit it.
Michigan had UND close late in the game. The goal that tied it up 2-2 was a nice goal by the power play never should have happened. That weak call was not even a legitimate basketball foul let alone a hockey penalty. What will be remembered is the 3-goal victory; nothing resembling a close game. The 24-shot first period is forgotten even though that was a beat-down rarely seen at this level.

Michigan had speed. Their top line was tough. What they lacked was the ability to finish the chances they needed in order to win. Again, their defense was very bad at times (as we knew) and their offense was very good at times (but not often enough).

I think a fitting final involves any team other than BC. Both semifinals should be good hockey.

I totally agree. Michigan was better than I expected. When looking at some of the losses they took during the year I had some doubts about how good they were. To say they had UND against the ropes in the 3rd isn't a stretch either. They played well for short periods but all in all UND was the better team in that game and deserved the win. I also felt St. Cloud deserved a win aswell but in one and done games you never know.

An objective opinion, thank you. Such a breath of fresh air in contrast to the obnoxious gloating expressed by the masses.

This is just so amazing and I must thank you for you continued posting. You say this as if your opinion is objective. UND outplayed Michigan for about 75% of the game and Denver did about the same in their game yesterday. You seem to be ignoring this though as you are coming into this thread and a few others still ripping on the NCHC, spouting off about how much it sucks. And I'm not sure what you consider gloating, but you might want to invest in a new and/or better dictionary as your current understanding of the word appears to be severely lacking.

You spouted off about how the Big Ten teams were just as good, if not better than the NCHC teams. Then after the NCHC team beats the Big Ten team, you whine and complain about it. Perhaps if you didn't want people to laugh at your prediction you shouldn't have made it in the off chance you ended up being wrong. It's not our fault Michigan couldn't back up your mouth, so put on your big boy pants and deal with it.

I simply want to wish the Siouxish fans a terrific Frozen Four experience and to thank the posters on their message board for the warm reception they gave me and other NU posters who visited their message board. I am at peace with the result of the game on Friday. You beat us. We didn't beat ourselves. Your team caused ours to make mistakes. We would have needed near perfection to come out ahead.

I'd like to think that we were beaten by this year's national champs! Good luck.

Nice of you to say, HH. You were a good addition to the discussion.

You realize, of course, that if NU had beaten UND we would have been calling for your head over there. :)

Nowhere did I ever say that the NCHC sucks. I believe the terminology that I used was overrated and overhyped, which I stand by. There are a few good teams in that conference, as there are in most conferences. The fact of the matter is that the Midwest Regional Final was anybody's game heading into the last half of the 3rd period. To North Dakota's credit, they found a way to gut out a tough win against a quality opponent. They deserve credit for that, as I have already mentioned previously. However, I do think that the BC/Quinnipiac semifinal is for all intents and purposes the "real championship game". Based on what I have seen so far, in my objective opinion those are clearly the two best teams.

My beef with the NCHC is mainly just the attitude that so many of their fans have towards the Big Ten and/or Big Ten schools. They come off as acting like the Big Ten somehow did them wrong, which I think is absolute garbage. If anybody wronged anybody, it was the schools that formed the NCHC when they went and abandoned what was left of the WCHA and CCHA (which of course consolidated to make up the new WCHA). That was a completely uncalled for overreaction. The WCHA would have been just fine without the Gophers and Badgers. The CCHA would have been just fine without Michigan, MSU, and OSU. But the leftover schools that had to merge together to create the new WCHA are not fine, that league is currently losing a lot of money. They have the egomaniac NCHC schools to thank for that.

OK, I warned you. You at least still had your undies; now you're buck naked, and you have more to be embarrassed about than even we could have expected.

We don't need to repeat this argument, because you, as usual, are obviously once again wrong. It is amusing though that you are essentially saying it was OK for Big Ten schools to do what they thought best for themselves but it wasn't OK for NCHC schools to what they thought best for themselves. I can't wait to see the excuses you come up with when Denver or UND wins the NC. It shall be fun watching you twist yourself into a pretzel trying to justify what you said.

It was okay for the Big Ten schools to do what they did because they were going along with the plan set forth by the conference that they were already members of. If the Big Sky conference had enough schools with hockey teams to form a hockey conference UND would be 100% justified to join a hypothetical Big Sky hockey conference. It only makes sense to have the same conference rivals in hockey as in every other sport if at all possible. I understand that for many teams that is not a reality, but for the Big Ten schools it became a reality once Penn State upgraded their club team to D1. I can't fathom the ignorance required to not see that so obvious point.

As for when Denver or UND wins the NC... don't you mean if? As for myself, I concede the possibility that they might win. If I had to bet money on the game I would take the winner between BC/Quinnipiac, but I am rational enough to understand that the better team doesn't always win and that is why they play the games.

You know as much as it pains me to say this. I would sure love to see a new uniform thrown together for the Frozen Four that actually says "Fighting Hawks." Either that or see them rock the blacks.

The only way they wear the blacks is if they beat DU, then play QU. In that scenario I wouldn't be surprised to see the blacks at all.

Are they forced to wear the whites as the higher seed? I thought they just had to agree with the other team if an alternate jersey can be worn or not?

Against QU they wouldn't be the higher seed. UND would be the "visiting" team.

Well yeah ... I was referring to the DU game. I thought the home team had the option of jersey if the away team ok'd the proposal and also had time to have their jerseys.
