University of North Dakota '19-'20 Season Thread - There's this Tournament in March..

Re: University of North Dakota '19-'20 Season Thread - There's this Tournament in Mar

BU just announced they won’t start school until January.

Link? I know they had put together contingency plans that included potentially holding off on in-person education until January, but it was my understanding that it was not the official plan at this time. Of course, with this crisis, things are pretty fluid.

Not official yet

Over the noon hour I happened to be watching ABC news and they had someone on from BU. Maybe I misunderstood (I certainly hope so) but it sounded like that was the plan.

Yeah, it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if in-person teaching is delayed until January across the country. However, I would be surprised by an announcement confirming that in April. Everything that I'm seeing right now, is that for BU it is simply a contingency plan that they are putting in place. Realistically, any competent university should be coming up with (or already have) the same plans in place right now.

Let's say the season doesn't start until after the new year. Play each conference opponent once (completely randomize home or away but obviously half and half), and dump that NMU series and bring the Gophers in. Can you imagine the atmosphere of that first series back?

They would have to find a way to get inter-conference games going so there's some sort of comparison available for pairwise. By removing the bye in early February, that gives the NCHC the option for 3 weeks of non-conference play.

I don't know how other conferences would do it though.

I could see the end of the season pushed back a month to accommodate more games. Would be crazy trying to reschedule Frozen Faceoff, regionals and national tournament.

How many here are going the Nashville game if it’s still a go by then?

Mrs. sfis and I are going, along with a couple from Seattle (they are a modern version of the Odd Couple - him a UND grad, her a DU grad) and another couple that are friends of theirs. It was encouraging to see the email from the Ralph a few days ago saying the game is still on, but watch for more updates. The next two are scheduled for June 1 and June 15.

We've got a group of eight going (hopefully).

We are going with 3 other couples and rented a AirBnB place that’s close to downtown. With that said this isn’t good news

Although it's only mid-May, college hockey teams are already starting to call off nonconference road trips that require airplane flights because of anticipated budget crunches due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first domino has already fallen. Holy Cross has canceled its two-game series at Arizona State.

It won't be the last.

Well this SUX! If all airplane travel away games are cancelled by other colleges then ASU will go from having 14 home games and 20 road games on the schedule, which sucked to begin with, to no home games?????
