University of Michigan, 2017-2018, a new era starts

Re: University of Michigan, 2017-2018, a new era starts

Anyone have word on Niko Porikos? He was hit pretty hard, and left in the first to not play anymore....

If I read the lines right, he was taking Sanchez's spot.

And even with the errors, our D parings are pretty set in stone. Does anyone remember back in 98 when Red could only play 2 defensive parings? Of which, Bubba scored in the semi....

The only "improvement" the team really needs is the 4th line defensive zone/break out. They did a great job on offense, and even the 3rd line stepped up. What would be amazing for two weekends from now is if the second line returns to early season form....

I talked to some guy at The Jug this afternoon after Niko's Dad had already left. He said that Niko is fine and that he was just shook up temporarily. I didn't hear any specifics but it sounded as if it was a Concussion. While all head-injuries are serious I think Niko will be fine.

Sorry, Wolverine Trumpet beat you to that beer at the B1G tourney game down here.
Sadly for me I can't make the Frozen 4 and it's a gut twister not being able to go.
Get with me next season for that beer if you make it down here.

Sorry, your football fans make it unsafe for me down there. Come on up to Yost. I think that I met klbaum there years ago. He's cool.

Re: University of Michigan, 2017-2018, a new era starts

So here's an odd question- how to approach the games and not be super stressed out about it....

As fans, it's pretty obvious that we get really caught up in the game, to the point that we probably get more stressed than the players to, mentally, before going in. As it it really matters that we can play 3 different teams that are mental challenges to the fans- Notre Dame, OSU, and UMD. Duluth only because it would be an identical match up to 2011.

But realistically, we should just go and have fun rooting for our team, since going to the Frozen Four is gravy- nobody expected them to actually get to St. Paul, even with Mel talking about it in his opening press conference.

And we've talked to the team after a crushing loss to Notre Dame at the Frozen Four- and while they are not happy at all, they didn't hang onto that anger and depression as long as us fans did. It was really refreshing to us to talk to the team after Porter won the Hobey Baker.

So I'm trying to find a way to approach this game to enjoy it more than being stressed and upset.

I love the games at Yost, one of the best atmospheres for college hockey in the country.
Didn't come up last year as it WAS the weekend of THE GAME and I felt Ohio license plates wouldn't be a good thing to be seen there but for that weekend only, never a problem other times.
You don't need to worry about being unsafe down here for hockey and they don't schedule our home hockey games any more on Saturdays when there's a home football game.

Does anyone know who the Michigan fan is who wears the #21 Handel jersey? I just want to wish him luck with his pregnancy. He looks like he's about to burst and I'm sure he's due any day now. Best wishes to baby and dad!

Michigan fans aren't violent for the most part. Sure on the odd Blue-moon you may run across a drunk Walmart Wolverine but like I said most will at most heckle you. That being said it was probably a good decision to pass this year. Parking was somewhat limited and people weren't too happy. For the vast majority of times feel free to come up though. We'll take your money.

I'm flying out to Minneapolis Wednesday late afternoon, anyone else? What are your plans other than the game? I know that there is a ton to do but is anyone going to the Michigan vs Notre Dame Pregame Meetup and Watch Party (https://www.facebook.com/events/2510433695847900/)?

Thursday. And there may be a gathering on Thursday afternoon at a bar near the rink. A UM organized one.

McGovern's is an awesome spot. I went there before the 2011 FF and had a great time. Super close to the rink, good food, good drinks. Fun fact, also a Steeler's bar for NFL games.

Go ND......Jeff Jackson needs to win another one before he retires. Mel will have 3-4 before his 10 year run ends.......
