University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Maine got another commit, a 22 y/o defenseman.

His path is a strange one for sure (OHL to USports to NCAA) but I'm weirdly intrigued by what I've read about his game. Sounds like he is a strong skater and has good offensive acumen. Like seeing him described as a "fourth forward". Barr seems to target guys that have those instincts and must see something moldable based on his skillset.

That said there may not be a ton of playing time behind Djurasevic/Chabrier/Nobes on the right side.

A good pick up. This suggest that Arnott and Morse is going to enter the TP. This will put us at 8 defensemen for next season with Djurasevic, Nobes, Chabrier, Holt, Antonacci , Langlois, Usereau and Motew or 7 defensemen if one of the mentioned signs a pro contract or enters the TP. Defensively on paper we appear even better suited for the 2025-2026 season than the 2024-2025 season which is kind of crazy.

Maybe they view him as an upgrade on Nobes?

Obviously I trust the coaching staff but it seems like Noah Houle was right there to bring in a right shot defenseman. The only schools he has been linked to are Maine and Clarkson. I wonder if this means he's not coming, or maybe even more people are leaving.

I wonder if Arnott ends up leaving and they still look to bring in a guy like Houle as well.

Minnesota State with a couple of guys expected to play big roles next year entering the portal too. Interesting move given this year's CCHA dominance. Anyone have any ideas why?

Sacred Heart collecting another Black Bear.

Reid Pabich (13/15/28) and Felix Trudeau were 2 of the top 3 scorers this year with Felix leading them - 15/23/38 - 39 games.

Pabich also led the team in +/- with +13
FelixT had a crazy great season.
Just loosened his stick grip and let it rip.

Larry Mahoney confirms the incoming freshman are Langlois, Usereau, Gerrior, Brock James, Nick Peluso and Lukas Peterson. I'm glad to see Peterson coming in, getting 20 year old freshman is great, but high level players aren't going to wait that long to get to college.
