University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

I keep seeing posts like this and it's clear that the posters don't live in Pennsylvania or haven't spent time in the state. Basically, Penn State would be at an advantage at any major city in the state regardless of the location because of the huge alumni base throughout PA. It's the flagship school with thousands of current students and alumni and the fanbase is basically a cult. The Lehigh Valley (where Allentown is located) has plenty of PSU alumni and Philadelphia, which probably has the largest alumni base outside of NYC, is under 2 hours away in a vehicle. Allentown was always going to be a home game for Penn State.
Hmm… I live 80 miles from Allentown and was at the last two regionals there. I don’t need a geography lesson. The “home” crowd has nothing to do with the score of the game. Maine looks dreadful tonight. Empty net goal now 5-1

Well the boys sure are disappointed.
Feel for them, bad way to end a good season.
Made some headway, HE champs.
Next year frozen four or at least one tourney win.

The maine fan base is alive and well and energized.
Time for fishing.

I might have to root for penn now.

It does suck but. 21 years without a Hockey East title, I’m not gonna complain about that. I’m still buyin a t-shirt. Proud of where we appear to be headed, now the challenge is to reload without grad tranfers.

As always go blue

Hats off to Penn State, they were excellent.

Maine had a good season overall, despite this clunker in the NCAA game(again).

Proud of the team anyways, proud they at least got a HE championship. The team didn’t have a superstar other than Boija and lack of ringer skill guys showed despite them playing hard as a collection of blue collar types.

Back to the drawing board. Hoping the coaching staff can recruit some high skill guys.

I got sucked in.
Followed Colgate to Maine last year and became a believer in Coach Barr and the Nadeau brothers (and aunts).
Believed in Maine this year with Ben, Josh and Ross Mitton (and his father).
Bet on them to advance to Saint Louis. Now it looks like I will be there without them (nor Minnesota). Dang!

Really dude. They fed off the crowd to build that lead. The trash play from Maine helped but if you think the crowd didn't boost them you're clueless. Glad to see a BC fan liking your post that says it all.

Gee, I thought it was the 2 power play goals that built the lead. Carmine knows a good post.😀

Lame excuse. A good team would find a way to win with a hostile crowd. Maine couldn’t generate anything offensively to save their life and the only thing that saved them from getting shutout was a fluke goal that they absolutely failed to build any momentum from — instead they turned around and gave up two power play goals.

This is the same Maine team that we saw several times this season.

Glad I fell asleep. One thing I was concerned about was the big homecoming after the HE title. I don't remember that during Shawns era?? HE title is a goal for sure but it isn't THE goal . Sucks the team didn't show up for the biggest game of the year and the biggest game in many years.

No doubt lots to be proud of, good season for sure but huge disappointment in the end. Hopefully that leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the returning players.
