University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Long time lurker here since probably before the fire Whitehead days, been a Maine Hockey fan since I was a kid in the 90s. Spent 4 years at UMaine from 2008-2012 during the Whitehead/Gendron years of mediocrity where I think i was more excited about attending Maine to be able to go to hockey games than I was a degree. Don't think I missed more than 2 or 3 home games during those 4 years as a student. Sporting event attendance actually won me two spring break trips in 2009 and 2012. Living in Southern Maine now, so haven't been back up to Alfond in quite a few years, however, try and make it to UNH and/or Portland games, but 2 young kids make that rather difficult too. Was able to make it down to Boston last Friday for the first time since the 2012 HE Tournament and it makes me incredibly excited and proud to say that Maine Hockey is back.

Lurking social media and some of the other threads on here, it appears that UNH is in the same boat we were in not too long ago, fighting coaching, funding, facilities etc. We should count our blessings that Maine was able to land Barr and that he has brought them back to national relevance.

As for present day, can't wait for tonight and I hope Maine is able to take it to PSU.

Penalties:
Cornell 1/2
Mich. St 1/2
MN St 2/4 game in 2OT
W MI 1/2
OSU 2/4
BU 8/24

One of these teams is not like the others. BU being BU - continuing to be first in PIM/game. Punks.
Completely undisciplined. Who takes an unsportsmanlike penalty jawing at the ref up by 4 goals late in the 3rd. Someone will make them pay eventually.

Having a look at tickets for st louis before the resale market kicks in after this weekend. On the enterprise ctr site it looks like its all resale at this point. Their resale prices are up there.

Do you think the venue is holding some back until the four teams are set, for release to the 4 teams?

GO Blue!
Cant wait for the game tonight.
Its been a ball watching the core of this team grow over the last four years. Theres been ups and downs but its incredible how tight they are this year, great leadership, and how well they all fill their roles and play for each other. This is the sort of team that is dangerous and can win the whole thing, not to mention they have alot of confidence coming into the tourney.

I expect a war. Home crowd for Penn State and they were the hottest team down the stretch in BIG10 going 13-4-4 since January. Maine has last change, which should help when it comes to matching against the Fink line. Maine is 12-4-4 since January and won the hockey East championship. So this is a heckuva match up. I hope Maine brings it heavy for the full 60 and makes it hell on Penn State defensemen on the boards and at the net front. Wanna see Freel and Makar in front of their goalie every shift.
