University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Bears went from third to fourth in the PWR this afternoon.

Because Dartmouth. This is why pairwise and RPI were not published till about January in past years.

Dartmouth is 2-0 against Harvard and Stonehill and is in 3rd

cornell is 2-0 against North Dakota and is in 8th

Dartmouth has 2 wins, one over Stonehill and the other over Harvard. Stonehill is 3-6-0 and Harvard is 0-1-0.

Cornell is also 2-0-0 and swept North Dakota. So if anything they should be ahead not Dartmouth.

And exactly how does that rank them at top 5 in RPI and Pairwise...

Dartmouths’s winning percentage is tied with Denver, Cornell and CC at 1.00. That is 1/4 of their RPI score AS I UNDERSTAND it.
Dartmouth’s opponents’ winning percentages and opponents’ opponents’ winning percentages must be higher than Cornell’s opponents and opponents’ opponents percentages.

this is why maine was number one after three games. Besides playing maine, Quinnipiac and Army had not lost any games, so their non-maine opponents also had no losses

This weekend, at BC, might be the most telling weekend of the season. This is the only truly elite team we play on the road. Last year we shot ourselves in the foot over and over at BU and got swept against the only tier 1 team. We were just a different team playing away from the Alfond. This season I need to see at least a split to believe we are ranked appropriately.

I'm not going to get too excited about a split or a sweep either way. Its early in the season, plenty of time to get better.

I would say the alarm won't be raised unless we get swept at BC and get swept in Orono to BU. Otherwise it's a long season.

This is a reasonable thought process. Last years team likely gets swept and that was a barometer of how the post season went. To get to the level of being a post season winner you have to go into BC and come out with points. That isn’t easy for sure, BC has 12 draft picks and a freshman that will be one of the top players drafted next NHL draft. But elite frozen four type teams can do it. Michigan just swept BU, they were a frozen four team last year. On the rise now in the rankings I’m sure. Maine has to get to that next level. I’m very excited to see if they have the horses to get some points.

Sorry, K, I was being a smarta55.

Mens BBall at Duke. Maine got killed by lack of Bench. Duke was rolling 10 guys and Maine didn't. Flagg looked good, the stat sheet won't show his D which was excellent . He got hurt towards end of game, Looked like cramps.

Duke's other frosh was on fire in the 1st half and provided enough separation for Duke to dominate the 2nd half. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how Maine played....I think that they will do well in America East.
