University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Nice to see the boys take care of business this weekend. Next weekend should be a lot of fun.

Freel and Scott are completely in sync at the moment, they’ve taken a leap skill wise this year.

Charlie Russell continues to impress me. Not just the goals and points but has the ability to slow the game down when the puck is on his stick.

I'm hoping to be there for at least one game this coming weekend, maybe both. And I'll be sure to be wearing my blue.

Given that they would be facing Denver at the cozy confines of Alfond Arena, is it fair to say that this weekend is the toughest test of the season? Eagles are rolling this year, seemingly picking up right where they left off a year ago, even sans Smith and Gauthier. Should be a great clash of two excellent teams.

Anyone else remember the 90s, I know I'm old :) MC in Alfond with Jack Rodrique firing pucks from the point on PP and MC goalie trying to get out of the way of said puck, this weekend reminded me of that. I figured MC might lose poise and Frustration would set in.

Take the HE points and onto BC. We shall see how good these guys are playing one of the most talented teams in the Nation. If Boija continues his excellent play Maine has a chance to grab some points down there.

Scotts play doesn't surprise me but wow on Freel, a big step forward. Add in the Portal guys and Maines offense looks pretty good. I wish Breen and Nadeau would pick up from last years play. Really have 3 lines that can score at this point.

5 powerplay goals on the weekend has Maine up to 7th in the nation (28.1%). PK is top-15 as well thus far.

Nice to see the special teams units getting on track before these next couple important series.

Great weekend taking care of business. Loved seeing BU take a couple on the chin. If Barr and the boys get anything over 6 points the next 4 games, hopefully they will continue that level of play to the post season.

Who was Maine’s last net-front man as successful as Freel? Ingraham?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen reflexes as fast as Freel’s.

Fowler’s not gonna give up as many rebounds this weekend, but if Freel can keep up the great screens, this should be a fun weekend.

I'd be happy with a split at BC. I think BC is the top dawg in Hockey East this year. BU close second.

Odd schedule, frid and sund at 1. Must be a football game or homecoming there Sat. Trying to figure out how to get there sunday with one hotel night, if theres tickets.

A split with both BC and BU would be just fine, good actually. Would put the boys on par with them.

I think they will do fine if they play their Scott style, relentless chasing the puck with speed, disrupting and playing heavy. Maine has had good success with this style of play vs BC.

I think there is an alumni event and military appreciation Saturday for the BC football game against Syracuse
