University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

I don't see why they're bothering with Stonehill at all.
It's kind of a catch-22 because while obviously strength of schedule matters, there is also something important about cultivating growth across college hockey in general. I don't have a problem with Stonehill on the schedule for this reason. There is a chance that when their arena is finished they'd be on the shortlist if Hockey East ever adds teams so might not be a bad idea to keep them close.

Walsh used to talk about this a lot back in the day. Whether he would be better off scheduling Canadian teams that didn't have any bearing on SOS or an indie that might be the only team available to play. I know some of it was his way of poking holes in the rating system being skewed toward WCHA/CCHA teams. That said it didn't stop him from scheduling indies like Notre Dame when they were the #1 team in the nation in 91/92.

Schedule got posted over in the FB group. Couple dates are tough to make out, kinda looks like Providence game is 1/31 which would be the Saturday.

Looks like Lindenwood instead of Stonehill..meh. also Colgate again at home. BC on the road again not surprised there . Also the Lowell game has an asterisk that looks like a Portland game

MSU Spartan fan here - looking at the first weekend of October where we both have open dates and no dance partner yet. Any rumblings of Black Bears coming to Munn? We've already got 2 road trips (BU and NMU) so I doubt we'd play out there this fall. just a thought.

According to the Lowell schedule the game will be at Portland on Wednesday, December 10th. Maine will also visit Lowell for 2 games on January 23-24.

They just posted the schedule and it has 34 games. So Maine isn’t going to play MSU.

I think the only thing Maine is going to add is an exhibition game. I wish Maine would schedule exhibitions with University of New Brunswick because they are strong for USports and they are in Fredericton, NB which is fairly close to Orono(2 hours?). It would be good for Maine to get challenged in the exhibition game.

That stretch to start the new year is pretty brutal. Playing 8 of 9 games on the road against Denver, BU, Providence, and Lowell.
Especially when you are going to have a lot of new players starting. Going to have to jell quick. Good thing Boija is still in Orono

"Hey everyone, thanks for re-engaging with our program and coming back to fill our arena after we completely mismanaged our premier program for over a decade. It's great so many of you bought season tickets and paid the new fee to be on our waitlist. Anyways, here's our nonconference home slate of Holy Cross, Colgate, and Lindenwood!"

While I do think its likely that this leaked schedule will turn out to be the actual schedule, I'm waiting until its officially announced by the team to pass any judgment.
