University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

HE schedule seems like it's stuck again; I expected the two home/two road rotation to be swapped this year, but it appears to be the same. It might mean that Maine plays twice in Durham, again.
So 3 out of 4 years we play twice at UHN and once in Orono?

The three peat opponents seem to rotate every other year (2H1A then 1H2A) before swapping opponents. The schedule gets tricky since the southern schools seem to favor home and home weekends

Seems like the trend is 2 away, 2 away, 2 home, 2 home over the last 4 years. Think it’s a result of covid aftermath. I would think that next year it starts to rotate every year again. So I would ~expect ~ UNH to be in Orono for 2 again this year (like we think is happening with BU). Should be:

Home for 2: BU, UNH, UConn, Vermont, Merrimack
Away for 2: BC, Lowell, Northeastern, Umass, Providence.

Exactly like last year. But let’s see!

Heard Coach Fortier’s gone… pissed off with Ben Barr and the toxic environment he’s created…
Are you the parent of a player that got cut or something? The only time you post on USCHO is to shit on Barr. If he's so toxic why do good players never leave? Why would Boija and Holt stay when they could've gone pro? How could he recruit the best recruiting class in over a decade if Maine is such a "toxic environment"? No one believes your "toxic environment" fairy tales.

Don’t shoot the messenger 😂 Just passing along what I’ve heard from different people around the program. Thinking everything’s great just ‘cause guys are staying or recruiting looks good is kinda oversimplifying it. The reality’s more complicated. Some players worry about losing their spot or scholarship, or just don’t feel like they can speak up. A good recruiting class doesn’t automatically mean the environment is healthy…

If the way Barr is operating is considered toxic, I'd hate to hear how some of Walsh's coaching tenure would be described...

The program is getting better. The line up higher quality. Some that were good enough yesterday are no longer. It is a reality of the situation. Those that won’t be getting playing time have to move on via transfer portal. Barr was hired to rebuild the program. He’s doing a fine job. I can see players that are left behind being upset, but it is a reality for the program to get back to where it once was.

I could maybe see some ill will in the old days where you'd transfer and have to sit out a year. But in the modern era where guys can pretty freely move between programs via the portal there's no reason to think there would be bad blood just because you were able to attract better talent to fill out your roster.

Just find a different program and earn the playing time. Look at how well that worked out for guys like Felix Trudeau and Reid Pabich last season. They moved on and both had very good seasons at Sacred Heart. Can even throw a guy like Connor Androlewicz in the mix as well, he had a solid enough season with Stonehill.
